Pattern Help - how would you interpret this?

Here’s the start of the pattern:
Cast on 58
K 4 rows
Beginning with a k row, continue in st st until piece measures 9" from cast on edge ending with a k row.

So, after I cast on, and do 4 K rows, I think I do another K row, correct? I think that’s what they mean by “beginning w/ a K row”.

And when I end, the last row I should be doing is a k row as well, correct?

Yep, cast on, k 4 rows, then one more for the first row of stockinette, and the last row after 9" will be a knit row as well.

As she said. If you knit 4, you will end up with a wrong-side-side, so you knit one more to have a knit-side and from there you do the stockinette stitch.
