Pattern for car seat liner blanket thing?

Hi,
I was wondering if anybody would know where I could find a knitting pattern for a car seat liner type blanket thing.
I saw a baby car seat and it had one in it that was not knitted, but bought at a store. It was like a blanket with a zipper that you could put the baby in and it had openings for the seat belt to slip through so you could properly attach the car seat.
I guess it was kinda like a baby bunting?
Does anybody have any idea what I’m talking about? Or know where I could find a pattern to knit one.
My little grand baby really needs something like this in the winter. He HATES putting on a coat and we can’t wrap a blanket around him because then we can’t attach the seat belt straps properly.
THANK YOU for any information regarding this. :muah:

I think I do know what you mean, but I’m not sure exactly what they look like. Maybe if you found a picture of what you mean (even in fabric) we could help more?

Or if you found a fabric pattern, you could manage to convert it. I’m sure it’s a square or rectangle with slits for the seatbelt, then zipper to close it.

Here’s a thought, take a tape measure with you and find one to measure - what dimensions, how many sts in from the edges for the slits…

I know exactly what you mean (I just became a grandmother for the 4th time 2 and 1/2 weeks ago and this baby will be living on the east coast the other 3 lived in CA and moved to Japan so didn’t need one of these), but I haven’t been able to put my hands on a pattern. I swore I saw one recently.
If I find it, I’ll send it to you!

o.k. found two:
go to www.garnerstudio.com
click on english
click on baby
under name of article put: baby bunting and then put in baby bunting alaska…
they are two different patterns, but they do not have the slits, but maybe you could put them in yourself by doing rows like you are going to make buttonholes. you’d just have to plan for them and mark out which row you want to start with!

I’ll keep looking

Thank you! I will try and find some kind of picture of one.
Jan…I tried to go to that link but MSN is messing up this morning so I couldn’t get into it, but I think I know the pattern.
I’ts a cute little baby bunting, right? Like a bag, with buttons in the front…that would be perfect.
I will have to figure out where to put the slits for the differant seat belt straps though.

She typed it wrong, it’s www.garnstudio.com

Just wanted to say thank you! I have been thinking about this for my DD too.

Julie shared in another thread that there is a bunting like this in the book The Yarn Girls’ Guide to Kid Knits. I got the book from my library so I could make a copy to keep for when/if I ever get grandkids. It looks like an easy pattern and is really cute. Check your library if you don’t want to purchase the book.
