Hi all, I am struggling to do the border for this baby show that I am making. I have my eight stitches ready on the circular needle and have turned to make the lace edging but I cannot understand row Two I have my stitches on the needle. Do I just work back across them for row three? And how do I get my yarn forward There is probably a very simple answer and lots of people will tell me that they’ve done this pattern which is more frustrating that I can’t complete the piece I need to do. Thank you for your help.

Is this the one?
I’m sorry, I can’t answer your question exactly, but someone will be along soon who can.
I suspect if you look up tutorials for “knitted-on lace edging” it may become clear to you.
Lovely blanket!

Thanks for the link, kushami.
The lace edge is going to be knit perpendicular to the body of the shawl. You’ll be knitting back and forth on the 8sts and joining to the shawl edge at the end of each odd number row (the k2tog before the turn).
Here’s a video.

Your pattern sts will be different but the idea of the attachment and direction of the border is the same.
A yarn over or yarn forward at the beginning of a row seems a bit strange at first but it’s just a matter of putting the yarn over the right needle before beginning the next stitch.

This is the perfect finishing touch to a gorgeous shawl.
