so anybody have a favorite easy-peasy pacifier clip pattern?
when looking on ravelry, after narrowing down by knit and free, i’m left with 14 choices. and most have animals or other ‘extras’ or suggest/require crocheting as part of the whole thing (either for casting on with it, or making an i-cord at the end). learning knitting is hard enough. videos of basic crochet on youtube might as well be rocket science. and then there’s casting onto safety pins and other assorted “huh-whats?” as well…
so… cast on 10, knit, purl, repeat easy knit to the end, etc… suggestions?
(oh, and i’d prefer to avoid velcro or snaps if possible… a slip knot type end is preferable.)
after some thought, i think i’ll try… leaving a 6-12" tail for tying in the hardware, then cast on/knit 10 back and forth until desired length (10" or so)… and then maybe knitting 2 together each row in decreasing amounts (10 becomes 9 for 3 rows, then 8 for 3 rows, then then then) until i can bind off the last 1-2 stiches, and then weave that smaller end in? we’ll see…
Maybe it’s just me, but my kids never used pacifiers. They are the most disgusting things to pick up off a dirty floor. They get dog hair stuck to them. And kids look silly with them when they get to be toddlers. Anyway, that’s my opinion.
not being a ‘kid person’, i agree, kids really are the most disgusting things to pick up off a dirty floor. and they get dog hair stuck to them. and they look silly when they get to be toddlers… i’m teasing… but really, i’m not a kid person… even as an adult i have OCD issues with food or dirt on me, or the feel of the wrong kind of shave gel, etc…
but these are for others who ARE kid people, with kids already, or kids on the way, and the pacifier clips seem to be a hot thing with that group…
i tried a 10-stitch version and it was too wide, so i’m scaling back to 8 wide, and then i’m going to try the i-cord suggestion but may end up with a series of decreasing rows… we’ll see… first i’m going to go scrub my brain of the image of dirty dog hair covered pacificers in silly looking kid mouths…
I love making I-cords, and as GG said, pretty easy. Just need 2 dpns; I’ve read that they can be made using upwards of 8 stitches  may have to try that for the fun of it.
If I want an Icord and don’t have dpn of the right size, they can be done on straight or circular needles. You just have to keep passing the stitches back to the left needle. That’s how a Icord border is done.
