OT: Terms of Endearment :)

I guess this is a little game of sorts  I love coming up with varied nicknames for people and pets. What endearments do you use for family members/ SO/ friends…? Are there any that are used on you :D? Can you come up with any particularly loving ones?

I’ve been called Guppy, and Chanty-chan, and also The Big Potato (>__< don’t ask :roflhard: )

I call my lil’ sister 'Nana (for Enana, Spanish for dwarf) and the dog is Carlitos, Poocho or Doggiekins…

I love using Candy Kitten or Sugar Bunny for little children X-D I’m sure they think I’m seriously weird

I call my kids (or other kids, too, for that matter!) Honey Heart. I’m not sure where it came from!

:rofling: I thought this was gonna be about my favorite need to cry movie LOL

Well my family calls me Sissy, Dus, or Dusty… I do not like Dusty and only let a few get by with it…

My husband calls me hun or cutie…

My kids call me mommy although my dd sometimes says momma…

My dh’s neices and nephew call me DD cause our nephew couldn’t say Dustina when he was little…

My nickname for my children is honey…cutie…baby girl… baby boy… or just baby…

My nickname for my dh is sweetie…

my dd’s nickname is Juliabug–I used to tell her she was prettier than a lady bug…b/c she’s a juliabug. It was really cute when she started learning her name and only referred to herself as juliabug.

Her grandpa Greg calls her “girlfriend”…so now she says she’s momma’s juliabug and greg’s girlfriend!

My family calls me Cris–most of my friends in High School do too but my husband (even though we went to high school together) will only call me Cristy.

My daughter has started calling me mom instead of mommy which is really weird to me considering she’s 3.

SOOO many!

I call DH “My Poopie” or “LUH-verrrr”

He calls me “Baby”, “Huney”, “My Love” or “My Loaf”
(He also talks directly to my tummy sometimes, but doesnt have a pet name for it. Thank GAWD. )

As for the dogs:

I call Howie “Puppy” alot, or “Pup-cake”, “Pup-tart”. Friends at work call him “Howie Chi-wowie”

I Call Maddie by her full name, “Miss Madilyn Louise” and she LOVES that.

As for Sophie, we call her “Toph” or “Soapy”.

Collectively, they are “my pooches” , as in “Where’s my pooches” and “C’mon, pooches! Bedtime!”

I don’t have many “terms of endearment.” My girls I both address as “princess” and my son “buddy” I’ve been known to call my cat Kiki-mongo (her name is just Kiki). I used to have a cat that was “silly wonkus kitty” My girls now call me just mom, only my son still calls me mommy. I have a friend whose 13 yo son still calls her mommy and I think it is so sweet!

DH and I are both the kind of people who can’t call the people we love the most by their actual names, so our “pet names” are our “real” names to each other. We only use real names in emergencies.

I’m SL (stands for Special Lady) and he’s Igb (long story…). My dad calls me Bird, my mom calls me Rachie, my little brother calls me Face.

My dog Milo is usually called Bug or The Bug, sometimes Buglet and sometimes Sugarcube.

Cat Wanda is Wandoodle or, more often, just Doodle.

We’re silly… :stuck_out_tongue:

oddly, i don’t generally allow too many terms of endearment to be used on me…i say oddly because i call most people in my life by silly little names.

most people get called Pookie at some time or another.
i have a couple of friends that get called by a new “Luv ____” name on a daily basis. Luv munky…luv bunny…luv muffin…etc
The sometimes b/f is NEVER called by his name. I think it bothers him only because I just never say his name, not because i call him all the other names. somewhere along the line he turned me into one of those people who calls people Baby. I never was one of those people…raging feminist that i was nobody was allowed to call me that either…He turned me to mush and i gave in…lol. He has a lot of nice names he calls me but only he gets by with it really.

lots of people call me Bren of course though it always makes me lift an eyebrow when relative strangers do it…lol

There are a lot of people who call me brendajos which isn’t really a term of endearment i don’t think considering most think that it really is my name. (it is, just not all one word! ) oh and a few call me brendamojojojojo.

DH and I never seem to use our “real” names for each other. It’s always “sweetie”, “honey” or something similar. DH knows that I’m mad at him if I call him “Derek”. :roflhard:

I have a bad habit of calling my kids by the wrong name {even gender sometimes!}, so I have collective terms for the ones we have living at home right now. Jacqueline and Rebecca {10 & 9 yo} are “the girls”… if I holler “GIRLS!!!” they know to come running. Lissa and Alex are “the kids”. Lissa is usually “baby girl” or “cutie”. Alex is either “brat” or “ah-lex”. What’s cute is that Lissa calls him “sis-sah”… which is what Alex calls her {sister}. :roflhard:

My grandfather’s middle was bell so all the newest kids in the family were called whatever-bell. I have one aunt that STILL calls me Lori-bell. I kinda like it though

And I thought this was a black thing when I was a kid cuz both my mum’s family and my dad’s family and some other black folks I knew would use this word. Boubie. As in “how’s it going boubie?” with a tousle of the hair. It is not pronounced like boob but ya just half to hear it.

My oldest son was Booga, boogaboy, boogalatch, or just boog. When I first came to KH, I wondered why everyone was knitting him a bag!

My youngest is munchkin, chicken little, punkin, my baby (as in “Whatcha doin’, my baby?”)

DH sometimes gets referred to as sweetie, but we mostly use regular names.

The cat is evil kitty.

By my closest friends, I get called “Apes” or “Ape.” They couldn’t come up with something cute for “April.” My DH and I call each other “sweetie” or “baby.” (Although, DD doesn’t like it when we call each other “baby.” She says but you’re not a baby, I am! We call DD “Sweet cheeks” or “baby.”

okay that reminded me of my nephew when he was little. We would ask him what his name was and he would say Devon Robert Smith. I would say “What’s my name?” Brenda Robert Smith. hehe

and i know was just sitting here trying to figure out how to phonetically spell how i say boubie and the closest i can get is when i say Mr. Bubble or Double Bubble…but that isn’t quite right either…hrmmm

My family is terrible about calling people names that aren’t their own! LOL!

My sister will call me Fern or Zelpha or Furnace. I call her Bucka or Farm or Bucka Farm. My brothers are Curta Makita and the other is Droofy, Droofus or Undywear. My children are Sammalammadingdong, Hayley-a-Bayley and Sweet Bubbaloo.

I should have mentioned that everyone has a theme song as well. There is an annoying little song that each person has using their “name” that the rest of us sing to them…ahh- it is so much fun!

DH and I have always called each other “honey”. It feels funny to me when I hear him use my name when he’s talking about me to someone else!!

My grandchildren get called anything from “Muffinboy” to “BumpBump”!!

My best friend addresses e-mails to me as “Dear One”. I love that; she’ sabout 10 years older than I, and it makes me feel like her little sister.

My cats have all been called “Sweetie"s, although that was not their name. And I call them"BeetleBop”, or “Fiti” (to rhyme with Sweetie).

Yes, I’m nuts!!

My pet name for my husband Scott is Scooter!

My husband doesn’t really use pet names with me

Jessica

let’s see…

I call DH “deano” “peep” “pippley” “pipple weasley” “plimpie”, and he calls me “peachie” “chongo” and “cheesetits”

Stanley = stanford, mr. spadowski, kittykins, kittyness, lovekins

Cheddar = B, BNess (bee-ness), Bean, Beanie, Cheddy, CheddarB, cheddar Biscuit, fatso, lard

Mom = Moo, moo-moo, moom

I use tons of terms of endearment with dh and the boys - I’m another one that rarelty uses real names.

I call DH babe, sweetie, and love.

I call the boys sweetie, buddy, baby. Also: Bobaloo. Boo. Boo-diddle. Bubby. Brother (this is when I’m talking about one boy to the other, as in “Charlie, where’s Brother?”; it’s a southern thing [where Bubba comes from]). Punkinhead. Punkinheart. Bobert (for Robert). Chaz (for Charlie).

DH doesn’t really use pet names, though he does occasionally call me sweetie.

Remember the Seinfeld episode where he and his girlfriend make everyone sick with their babytalk to each other? They call each other “Schmoopy.” One of my old boyfriends and I used to call each other that after that episode (eventually we shortened it to “Schmoops”). I once accidentally called my husband that and he had no idea what I was talking about.

:rofling: :rofling: :rofling:

I’ve kinda got into the habit of calling small children “sausage” - sometimes they laugh, sometimes they growl me off.

My DH calls me either "Glaucy, Glaucous, Glomper or Thundercloud"
My DD calls me “mumoll” and DS calls me mummy

My DH’s nickname is “Poddy” or “Paddestool”. He keeps making up names for the kids all the time. DD’s include:“Ralta, Narva, Poupee, Astra, Mieke and Moppy”; DS’s include:“Kronos, Jakey, Yarki, The Baby, Beba, Bubble and Bumper”

As for our 4 smelly cats: Dimple gets called Dimpy (or that stinking orange cat by DH), Mischief gets called Missy, Luigi gets called Lugi/Lougi or Weegee and Prada is called Pradie.
