I’ve been tatting for a few years now, and I found that the DMC Book of Charted Tatting Designs had some very simple instructions in it. I learned to do needle tatting first and can’t say I care for it at all now that I use a tatting shuttle. I found a couple good books at A.C. Moore, and they carry a few different shuttles too, but most of the books I found were on amazon.com. I still haven’t found many great sites for tatting, but I also haven’t looked in a while. Got kind of caught up in knitting. :XX:
ooh, ooh! I wanna learn… i said that before, but now I have a question. Is Tatting the same thing as netting? like for making cauls or snoods? I read that you can make hammocks and basketball hoops with netting, but is it the same as tatting? I found this on tatting
I’m not sure whether they’re different or not. But I can’t imagine trying to make a hammock with tatting. I’ll have to see what netting is, looks neat.
lol ya, i think they are different. I think both links i posted were of netting, or knotting. Tatting and netting might go hand in hand in some instances. I like the sound of both either way.
[color=blue]Wow! :cheering: This has generated so many more answers than I anticipated! Thank you all so much! Kaytayqt–I visited your site-beautiful tatting.
misstialouise- I will look for “The Complete Book of Tatting”. Maybe Amazon has it. (a dangerous site for me lol). Hope you and the baby are doing well today
Hello Kaytayqt and welcome! Thanks for the information - I’d really really like to try tatting too. My cousin does beading and she met a man on holiday in Spain who was doing tatting, she said it was fascinating.
I’m going to try to find a class in London in the autumn for it.
Be sure to check out the other posting in this forum. I have learned SO MUCH in here. The knitting videos are great, and the people in here are so awesome and encouraging.
