Some of you already know that I’m a piano teacher. Well, believe it or not, some people actually try to scam us too!
There is a piano teacher scam that goes like this. They send an email to a piano teacher they find on the internet, asking to start lessons right away, and they want to pay for 6 months of lessons up front. Then, after lessons start, they quit and ask for a refund. You guessed it - the money is in limbo in your account for a while before the bank discovers it’s not legitimate, and then you’ve lost the money you refunded.
I heard about the scam before I got one of the emails, so of course I knew what was going on. So…I was smart with them.
I replied that I only accept payment for one lesson at a time, since we could discover that our teacher/student relationship is not compatible.
I wonder why they never reply again?
Good for you! ![]()
