Oops Dropped A Stitch

I am over 1/2 way done with a scarf I am working on and I just realized I dropped  a stitch. The entire scarf is garter stitch. How important is it that I fix the dropped stitch?

Next question, if I have to fix it, how do I fix it?

If it’s more than a couple rows I’d just put a 10 "strand of yarn through it and weave in the ends. If it’s a couple rows you can pick it up with a crochet hook. With garter you have todo one row from the front then the next row from the back etc.

I’m assuming you are asking if I am more than a couple rows away from the dropped stitch? I am 50+ rows away.

I don’t quite understand your explanation of what to do. Please remember, I am a beginner.

Yes, that is what I was asking. Okay, that is much to far down to pick up the stitch and place it back on the needle. I wouldn’t just leave it because it will eventually drop down more and then it will leave a ladder or gap in the pattern.

Cut a piece of matching yarn and thread it through the loop of the dropped stitch. Tie it once to secure on the loop then using a yarn needle weave in the ends. That should hold it from going anywhere. Here’s a couple links for weaving in the ends.
