I’m confused
Knitting a sock

Turn heel:

  1. Sl1, knit to 2 stitches after the marker, Sl1, K1, PSSO, K1. Turn.
  2. Sl1, purl to 2 stitches after the marker, P2TOG, P1. Turn.
  3. Sl1, knit to one stitch before the ‘gap’. S1, K1, PSSO, K1. Turn.
  4. Sl1, purl to one stitch before the ‘gap’. P2TOG, P1. Turn.
    Repeat rows 3 and 4 until all heel stitches have been worked, ending after a purl row

what exactly does it mean ‘gap’???

After you knit row 1 or 2 in the heel you’ll notice where you turned in the previous row there will be a space between the stitches on your needles. Its not a HUGE gap but it’s noticably larger. It’s right in the middle of where you P2TOG (take the stitch before and the stitch after) or one stitch before your S1, K1, PSSO.
