Oddball Blanket #4 is COMPLETE!

Let’s wait until August 1st…just a few days away.

That sounds like a great plan to me. Thanks for just starting us anew if needbe , Shandeh! :cheering::muah::cheering:

We’ve been burned twice by the mail system already, though! Yikes… :pout:

I still hope the original #4 shows up before August 1st!

Yeah, it’s a pain, but we’ll pull through.

I figure that with 100 knitters involved in a mail project, we’re BOUND to have some problems occasionally. So far, among all the blankets and shawls, we’ve only had 3 problems. So, I guess we’re doing okay.

 Aside from the fact it would hold up the process appallingly in terms of postal times I would also join in. I think I will start my own small project here - I’ve become inspired by reading the threads - and try to make an item for an elderly person for Christmas. In my area whilst children are always a target group needing much thought and help, the elderly often live in harsh conditions and the local Salvation Army could steer me towards someone deserving I am sure.

Susan, if you want, you can cast on a blanket, and mail it to me, then I can continue it here in the US with another group of our KH knitters. We could send it back to you at the end, so you could get your needles back, and you could donate it to a charity in your country.

We could set up a different thread for that one. It could be Oddball Blanket #7.

Sandy…that is an incredibly generous offer however I could not accept it given everyone bar me would be from the US. However, I will think of some options of how I could contribute to what you’re doing in different ways and come back to you. Thank you again for the most generous offer.

Hi Sandy…I saw that you’ve been doing one blanket in squares… If you have another one of those going to be done… I’ll put my hand up to contribute to that if its in knit and not crochet. I’d be happy to do a couple of squares and I can post across to you. Is this a do-able option? If this sort of blanket is more rarely made I’ll make another suggestion but one at a time

Hmmm:think: Am I making a blanket I don’t know about? :??

I don’t have a blanket being made with squares.

Which one are you referring to?

I just tried to locate the thread. it’s rather a maze in here  .I can only assume it’s someone elses as I know I read twice about people making squares. One person said they had finished their square and had sent it. Sorry about that.

I think you are referring to the baby odball log cabin blanket. They each start with a square and go from there.

Thanks Holly. I think you’re right. I think I should jot down what thread I see things in in here and I wind up having to do searches. Hive of activity!

Ah! The BABY Oddball Blanket. That’s Snowbear’s baby.

Post in that thread, and you’ll be on the right track.

Thanks Sandy… I think I’ll do my own item here however I’ll keep a lot out for relevant opportunities on this forum

:verysad: I am so disappointed in what’s befallen blanket #4.
I hope that those of you who are devoted to it don’t lose heart.

I haven’t lost my heart.

The blanket will turn up sometime, somewhere. And hopefully, whoever gets it will finish it and enjoy it.

We were going to give it to charity anyway. So if it ends up in someone’s home, we’ve accomplished our goal. :teehee:

I’m starting the new blanket today, using some vintage variegated yarn in my stash. Purple, Teal, Pink - PRETTY!

The only circular needle I have left is size 10, so that’s what we’ll have to use. I think I’ll cast on 280 stitches instead of the usual 300, since the needle is bigger.

So what ended up happening to the blanket? Should I assume that this one is lost too since you’re starting a new one?

So disappointing to see.

Yes, now two of our blankets have been eaten by the post office. :pout:

The first one was sent to the Netherlands, but never made it back. (She was the 2nd knitter, so the blanket had not really grown that much.)

The second one lost was our 4th blanket. This one had 5 knitted portions, so it wasn’t big yet, but still some time had been invested in it.

So, I guess we should each mail our packages First Class or Priority Mail, so we can add 65 cents for Delivery Confirmation. That will help a bit with keeping tabs on the blankets. Plus, we will be able to search for them in the postal system that way.

If you use a Priority Mail Flat Rate Box, the rates are not that bad.

You can also write “HANDLE WITH CARE” on the package, if you want.
