Northeast US Oddball Baby Blankets

Spikey, i was a total dork and wrote your zipcode down wrong and the guy at the window at the PO said that your town didn’t exist (he looked it up in some book in the back) but I have that fixed and I’ll mail out Tutti Fruitti tomorrow with August.

Now, Motherhenknits, the tracking number for Rainbow Sherbert is 03073330000174795619

Bobi1218, the tracking number for bluebird is 03073330000174795602

No problem. The town is Penn Valley, but some post offices insist on Narberth, because that is the post office, even though that is not the town …so confusing. Sorry.

they do the same thing here in upstate NY. The smaller villages (ie: Tribes Hill) use the zipcode of the nearest town with a post office (either fort johnson or Amsterdam). i had written 120 instead of 190… the zipcode for FONDA, NY lol. Yeah, today’s definately a blonde day

okay
mermaid tails, special delivery, and autumn in the ne were all sent out today!
i have no idea what delivery confirmation goes with which blanket but the guy at the post office wrote the last name on each paper so here’s what i got-

Hoke 0308 0730 0000 0281 1423
Manton 0308 0730 0000 0281 1430
Stevenson 0308 0730 0000 5993 7299

also, a pic of autumn in the ne

that’s REALLY pretty Sarah!

Great work, everyone! :cheering:

Autumn in the NE looks beautiful, sarahbean!

Independence Day went out to SteveDallas today (conf #0308 0660 0000 4564 6596). Pic is in the phone, but I should be able to post it tomorrow.

Also, I received Heather and Gum Drops from gmmarton today, along with a beautiful notepad and a needle for another preemie blanket! Plus a beautiful note :aww:.

Our experience mailing out orchestra music for my wife’s group is that priority mail becomes cheaper than first class when the weight reaches about 1 lb. If it’s less, first class will be cheaper! (One thing I don’t know is whether you can get delivery confirmation on first class.)

You can sometimes find padded manila envelopes at the dollar store in packs of 2 or 3.

Yayyy!! It should be here tomorrow. Back to the yarn issue… is Red Heart Super Saver OK, or is it too rough? I don’t mind getting something else, but I have almost whole skeins of red and royal blue that would be great for this if they would work.

You can get delivery conf on first class. It costs an additional 75 cents, as opposed to 65 cents with priority. But I think deliv conf on priority is free if you print your own label and arrange pick up from home.

The cutoff appears to be right around 13 ounces. If you are under, first class is cheaper, if you are over, they are pretty comparable. It also depends on the overall thickness of the envelope, as it is less expensive if it is less than 3/4" thick.

Hopefully, you’ll get I D on Saturday. Unfortunately, RH Super Saver is too rough for our blankets. RH Soft is ok, but not the super saver. I use that to make dish scrubbies. If you want the pattern, to use some of that up, I’d be happy to share it :teehee:.

Shandeh’s sticky at the top of the Charity Knitting section has a whole long list of yarns that are acceptable. Hopefully you can find one of these without too much trouble!

Please help me welcome GinnyG :knitting:, from Upstate NY! :woohoo::woot::yay::cheering::mrgreen::happydance:

hey Ginny! wherebouts in upstate NY? I’m in fulton county…near Amsterdam

GinnyG has agreed to fill our vacant (green) slot on the worsted version of Pastel Rainbow! :happydance:

Welcome Ginny!

I love the stitch you used on Autumn, sarahbean! Those colors look great together.

Howdy! This is my first oddball so I hope I do what I’m suppposed to do, when I’m supposed to do it!!!

I’m ordering my yarn today, but not sure “when” to esxpect the blanket, is there a schedule?

I live in Upstate NY, Town of Caroline. Caroline is a very small rural community outside of Ithaca NY (home of Cornell University where my DH works).

I am a nurse and as I have mentioned before, I am also a volunteer Critical Care EMT with our local Ambulance. I spend about 24 hours a week at the fire house covering shifts and get to spend lots of guilt free knitting time between ambulance calls.

The last couple years I have been taking classes to advance my EMT degree but have decided to take a year or so off (to knit:roflhard: ) before continuing my Paramedic Certification.

I look forward to participating in the oddball group!!

Hi GinnyG!

Thanks for letting us get to know you!

There is a list of knitters on each blanket, on our blog (click the link in my signature). I try to keep it updated at least each weekend, and will do so again tonight.

tuxedocat from ravelry is working on Pastel Rainbow right now, and you are next. When she’s done, she’ll let me know, or post on our ravelry thread. I’ll contact you to make sure that you are ready before it gets mailed.

We will always check with you before sending a blanket. Life gets in the way of our knitting some times. If something comes up, just let me know. Changing positions on a blanket, or having to drop out are not a big deal.

In addition to the tips from Shandeh on the sticky, a written instruction sheet will come with each blanket. You can always post here with any questions. Our group is very friendly and very helpful! :grphug:

Thanks for all that you do to help others with your nursing and EMT careers

I received Rainbow Sherbet on Saturday and should have it finished up tonight or tomorrow. I’m having minor surgery this afternoon (darn moles) so I should be sitting most of the afternoon/evening and just knitting away.

Thanks, suziehomemaker. CabinGirlPA from Rav is next. I’ll post over there and see if she is ready.
Hope all goes well this afternoon! Crossed Fingers

I received Autumn in New England this afternoon from SarahBean. I look forward to knitting my section.

I got Independence Day in the mail Friday! I have now picked up a skein of Vanna’s Choice, so I’m good to get started tonight or tomorrow. I was hoping for something brighter, like a royal blue, but I didn’t find anything like that in a softer yarn at Joann’s yesterday. However, the Vanna’s Choice I got is called “Colonial Blue” so I figured that’s better than “Royal Blue” for the “independence Day” blanket anyway.

What stitch did you use for this? I haven’t decided what to do with Independence Day yet, but that looks a lot like one of the ones I was thinking about. It looks great… you may have made my decision for me!

GinnyG, Pastel Rainbow is ready for you!

Are you ready for it?

I think this might be the Oddball Blanket World Record for signing up and getting your first blanket :teehee:

:cheering: yup! Send it on! I ordered my yarn yesterday, so hopefully it went out today.
