No working yarn to pick up and knit with?

How do I pick up and knit along a wrist edge of an pair of mittens when I dont have a working yarn?

The pattern says:
With CC, pick up and k 36 sts along beginning wrist edge of Mitten. K 19 rows. Bind off all sts knitwise.

The CC is lion brand fun fur. Iv never added anything on to an edge with out a working yarn so Im lost.

You can just hold your yarn straight from the ball (ie. not currently attached to anything else) behind your work and start picking up stitches along the edge as you normally would. The only difference is that you will have that end to weave in later.

Thank you so much, now I can finish my project!!! :cheering:
