Newborn sock measurements

hey folks! I’m male, 23, never had too much to do with babies, but I want to knit some baby socks for my pregnant friends. Most patterns i see only have sizes for two year olds, not younger. I think I can wing it and make a smaller sock…but how small are babies feet anyways? Anyone have measurements for finished baby socks?

[color=blue]I knit booties for babies and most are with ties to keep ‘em on babies’ feet.
The foot is generally 3" to 3-1/2" long.

woo hoo thanks! I also just read something that said babies feet are generally about the width of a hand, which seems to be about 3 to 4 inches. that should be easy and knit up nice and fast!

I use patterns from Patti for newborns and they fit perfectly.
