Hi everyone here just started missing and wondering if there’s any place I could get free bits or samples of of yarn /wool, I am absolutely in love with my new hobby sadly I can afford to buy any of it anything even second-hand or any place I could buy second hand would be amazing

I call myself a budget knitter, I enjoy knitting but I don’t spend much.
I don’t think you’ll find free stuff unless you are a popular influencer advertising products along with demonstrations.
Second hand you might find in your local charity shops (bags of yarn and/or needles). There are bundles of used needles on ebay where you can also find job lots of yarn. I have not bought these myself but have looked at some before.
I started with a new set of low cost needles off amazon. There are lots to choose from, bamboo, metal, straight, circular. I knew I would have a better chance of getting the gauge i wanted with lots of choice in size of needle rather than one pair of better quality higher priced needles. My start out set lasted a good few years and i was very pleased with them (also came with a bunch of bits and bobs which were very useful).
Eventually I have replaced them with brand needles.
Yarn can be very expensive, £200-£300 for one sweater in some yarns. I aim to spend less than £50 on an adult sweater and usually mine cost around £20 each, some as low as £14. I buy new yarn but use budget friendly brands and look out for yarn in the sales, i also look out for the newer recycled fibres as a personal reference. Patterns aren’t going to look exactly like the picture if you substitute with a different yarn but i like that every one of my pieces is a one off which no one else has.
There are plenty of free patterns available but again patterns range in price and are sometimes on sale.
