New to reading charts

Hi! I am new to this forum and hoping someone can help me out as I conquer knitting a lace shawl for the first time using a Drops chart following Ivory Dream / DROPS 201-20 - Free knitting patterns by DROPS Design

I am not quite sure how to read the first row of A.3-A.4?? I am working from the RS. After the yarn over I have knit 8 stitches but not sure if that is correct because of where the next yarn over falls? After the 8 knit stitches I was going to YO and then for the first box that has a diagonal line slip 1 st as if to knit, then next box knit 1 and pass the slipped st over the knitted stitche I just created. Then knit the last stitch in the A.4 section. Is this correct? Thank you for any help, I very much appreciate it!! :yarn:

Welcome to KnittingHelp!
Drops has its own way of indicating yarn overs. The oval is placed between squares on the chart to reflect the way the actual yarn over occurs between sts on the needle.
You’re correct. Starting from A.3: YO, k8, YO, slip 1 knitwise, k1, psso.

Lovely lace pattern and shawl.
