I’m relatively new to knitting but I’m not doing to badly. I recently obtained a sweater pattern that calls for felted tweed or a “tweedy” yarn. Being that I haven’t been knitting for very long i don’t really know what to look for in a “tweedy” yarn. What textures should I look for? Also the only places for me to get yarn is Hobby Lobby and Michaels (other than the internet).
The first thing you need to know is the weight of the yarn. Worsted? Sport? Double Knitting (dk)? Bulky?
Once you know that, then you can start looking at yarns that are that weight and fiber.
www.yarndex.com is a good place to find yarns of certain weights, fiber and textures.
