Used needles for sale, how cool! It’s a very nice looking site where you can buy specific sets of used needles, based on a picture and description of each set. What you see is what you get. Be aware that she sells single needles for those looking to replace a single lost needle. So don’t buy a single needle thinking it’s a full set! LOL. The site looks great, and I have my eye on some aluminum DPN’s for $2.50.
This lady just ordered a CD from me, and sweetly asked permission to link to KnittingHelp from her new site. Of course, being curious, I had to check out her site. I think it’s a great idea!
That is a very clever idea!!! I probably won’t be able to use her service since I use circs 99.9% of the time. Dpns for socks are the only straight needles I use. I do like the idea even if I can’t use it.!!!
What a great idea! I wish I’d known about her when I first began knitting! She doesn’t have the needle (as in singular) size which I need right now, but I’ve bookmarked her, and will continue to check her site. I found a single size 50 needle at Goodwill one day, but couldn’t find the mate to it. I decided to go ahead and get it, since it cost practically nothing. Who knows? Maybe I’ll find it a mate at Tara’s site some day.
Hey Renna!- I’m “Tara” - and I haven’t uploaded all my needles yet to the site…I do have a size 50 plastic needle - I’ll upload it at lunchtime (I’m on EST) and maybe it’s your mate!
Thanks to everyone for their positive words! It means a lot!
Carol
PS: I’m all ears when it comes to suggestions about the site…I’m thinking of adding crochet stuff soon, too.
Fantastic, Carol! I’ll be sure and check your site this afternoon. Even if it’s not my exact mate, as long as it’s the right size, I’d be happy. I don’t care what color it is. I have no problem of interracial marriages between needles (or people).
:?? Okay, is there anyone besides me that didn’t know that “Sears” had ever made needles?! I wonder if it is another ‘craft’ company that happens to have the same name as the well known retailer. Because if those r from the retail Sears store I bet that they are ancient…how cool is that ?!
Hey Rebecca - that’s one of the really fun things about doing the taraknit site…The Sears’ ones I have so far are these really neat BLUE color (looks at foldedbird/Denise! :D) - kinda a deep denim color. I would love to, down the line, do some sort of research on knitting needle companies. I hear Martha Stewart’s company made/sold some too. If anyone hears or sees some odd ball manufacturers, I would love to hear about it!
That post is from 2005, maybe the site doesn’t exist any more.
To the poster wanting to sell used knitting needles - also try Craigslist if you don’t want to deal with shipping that will likely be involved when selling on ebay. I’ve gotten rid of a lot of stuff, craft and other, that way.
I have a set of Sears interchangeable circular needles that i bought back in the mid-70’s. They came in a blue and green folder, with size 6-11 tips and 5 cables of differing lengths. The cables are much thicker than on sets i have since bought (knitpicks harmonies for example), but are quite flexible. It includes screw-on caps to keep the stitches from sliding off if you want to use the needles but keep another project on the cables. there is a paper inside that reads: This is kit no.5791. There is a size 10-1/2 needle included–don’t see that very often-- linknit41
Sears also used to sell their own brand of yarn too, as did Kmart and Woolworth’s, and SS Kresge which became Walmart. You can still buy yarn from Kmart online, not their brand anymore, but different brands.
