New Knitter - how to end and remove from needles

Help! I am a new knitter and have learned how to cast on, how to knit, but none of the videos show how to really end the last row when you bind off. I know you must tie a knot somehow, but I am just doing my own thing right now and I’m not sure it’s right. OK I have done the bind off and have only one stitch left on the needle…what do I do next to make sure it doesn’t unravel??? :frowning: Thanks…javascript:emoticon(’:(’)

Welcome Kathy!

What I do is pull the end yarn though the single remaining loop and pull it closed. Then weave the yarn in (just follow the path of a strand of yarn in the knitting), for a few stitches.

Thanks, Amy. It sounds like an obvious thing, I’m sure to those of you who really know what they’re doing! I have knitted before but someone always did the end part for me. Thanks for answering right away. It was kind of you!

I tie a knot after i place the yarn through the last loop then weave the yarn as Amy described. I have not done the knot thing in the past and my scarf unraveled.

Dear Amy and Anne,

It worked!! Thanks so much!
Kathy

Your welcome.

I had the exact same question yesterday when I messed up the last stitch in my bind off. Now I know. Thanks
