My name is Beee and I am a fairly new knitter (learned in Feb 06)
Since a few weeks, I am mesmerized by lace…
I knitted two feather and fan shawls; one with Bleu Heron Rayon Metallic and the other one with Artyarns Silk Rapsody.
My third Lace Project was Double Dayflower with Noro Silk Garden.
I am ready to knit lace with a lighter weight and purchased some variegated Koigu (deep whine color).
However, I am afraid that the lace pattern will dissappear in the variegated colorway of this Koigu yarn.
My question to you is how do you feel about knitting lace with variegated color yarn?
And do you know of a lace pattern for beginners that will fit well with the variegated Koigu yarn? Flower Basket shawl? Leaf Lace shawl?
Thank you so much in advance and pleased to meet you!
Beee
My feeling about lace and variagated yarns…I think it’s fabulous! Sometimes the variagated colours show off the lace pattern even more, as long as the colourway isn’t too crazy and busy. I don’t do shawls, but I do make socks and I love lace socks. I won’t make lace socks out of self-striping yarn or faux fair isle yarn because the lace pattern would get lost in the pattern of the yarn, but a lightly variagated/non-striping yarn looks great with lace.
Just a quick hello and welcome to knutters, oops knitters and knatter. I’ve just taken a few minutes away from my vice and pliers to say I think it’s great that you’ve been able to get to lace so quickly after only taking up the cudgels a few months ago - so, well done, that lass!
Next week, I’ll have a look for lace patterns suitable for new knitters but really if you’ve got on well with fan n feather, nothing should be too much of a problem for you. :cheering: :cheering:
:cheering: Welcome to the forum!! I love the lace looks too I haven’t done very much though… I have a pattern for a shawl I wanna start… once I get some needles free
