New. And working on a scaf

Hi Everyone. I am new and started to learn to knit two years ago. I have a knitting machine also and made a few hats. My goal now is to learn to read patterns. Any suggestions please

Welcome to the forum!
Patterns are a language all to themselves that you learn by doing. Find something that you would like to make and then take it step by step. We’ll be happy to help along the way with any questions or interpretations.
What would you like to start with?

Thanks. The pattern is this

SHAWL

First Half

Cast on 48 sts.

Row 1: Sl 1, increase 1 st in next st, k to last 2 sts, k2tog.

Row 2: Sl 1, k to end of row.

Rep last 2 rows until piece measures 36 in. (91.5 cm) along diagonal edge, ending with a Row 1.

A shawl is a good idea and this one has enough going on to keep you interested.

That said, would you delete the second half of the pattern please? We can’t post large portions of patterns due to designer copyright.
Does this pattern have a name and designer? That information is always helpful.

Thanks. I did.

Lion Brand® Homespun®

V Shawl

I am slowly doing it but hopefully will have enough yarn

Interesting pattern and shaping! Please do post a photo when you finish.

I will. I didn’t know that I can upload patterns. Now that I know, I will. Yes , patterns is like the one you showed. I did this one on my knitting machine

We don’t often get to see machine knits. This is a cute, cozy hat. Thanks for posting!

Question because I am new to this. Can I share a pattern link instead of coping like what i accidentally did?

A pattern link is perfect. That way we’re not posting large portions of a designer’s work.
