Never leave home without my knitting

:wall: Why did I agree to work extra hours? Oh yeah! That’s right, our trip at Christmas time.:ick: That’s :ick: for work, not the trip. I’m looking forward to getting away for a few weeks. It’s just the exta time you have to work so that you can afford to go on a vacation that stinks! Is there a full moon out tonight? Because I think that every idiot has called in tonight. Oh well, I guess that’s just how it goes some nights. :pout:

Three wash cloths done and I’ve started on the last one:happydance: Now I just need to wake up enough to motivate myself to get it finished. You’d think that the momentum I have going would keep me going but I’m getting burned out. I probably just need a little more caffine and I’ll be good to go!

:woohoo::clink:YEAH!!! I finally finished all four baby wash cloths. Now I can go buy the bath items and wrap it all up with the blankets that I made for the auction. What a feeling of accomplishment. But I have the feeling of “now what do I occupy my time with?” Oh, I don’t know? Maybe all of those other projects that I have started and need to finish!:?? But then there is always that temptation to start something new and more exciting! On second thought, I’d better just finish what I’ve got on the needles. Have a great weekend everyone:hug:

yay!! :cheering:i am so glad you finished them. i have a bad habit of starting new projects instead of finishing other ones.

Sunday I delivered my merchandise to the country store at our church. They sold two of my four wash clothes within minutes of me putting them on the table. I was tickled pink. I also had lots of compliments on my rag quilts that I made for the upcomming auction.

I also finished one sock and have started the second one. The sad thing is that they won’t fit my daughter for whom I was making them. She is 12 years old and has a size 10 1/2 foot. So now I will have a pretty aqua blue pair of socks for myself and she will have to pick out a different color of yarn.

I am glad your washcloths sold so quickly! It does make you feel good to know that other people want what you have spent lots of time making, doesn’t it?

Sorry about the socks not fitting. Is the pattern you were using in a specific size or does it go by foot measurement?

You are so right about the feeling when people like something that you have spent time and effort on. I’m going to have to make more.

The socks go by foot measurement. My girls are growing so fast that I can’t keep up with them. My daughters foot grew by the time I got the first sock done. Oh well, these things happen. In a way I’m glad because I loved the color that she picked out for herself. It is Bobby Blue by Malabrigo and it is working up so pretty. So now I will keep them for myself and she can have the color I picked out, which is Holly Hock by Malabrigo. I can’t wait to see how those work up, they should be really pretty too. I’ll just need to make sure that I go buy a second skien of yarn so that I have enough to make her a pair that fits. This just gives me an excuse to go to the yarn store :happydance:

I’m working extra hours this weekend and the next one so that will give me lots of extra knitting time too. :cheering: I know that sounds kind of bad, I come to work so that I can knit. But when you work overnights at a hospital on the switchboard it’s not that busy and you need to do something to make the time go by faster. My goal is to knock out some socks in the next two weekends. Wish me luck!

Happy Friday to everyone.

i understand about how fast kids can grow. mine aren’t there yet, but my neice is 12 and already 5’7" and wears a size 12 shoes. she grew about a foot during school last year. her daddy is 6’7’ and wears a size 17 shoe(i think)

WOW! Now that’s a big foot. Have you knitted him a pair of sock? I got a lot of knitting done last night and I hope to knit tonight too. Tonight’s movie is Laura Croft Tomb Raider. I know, I have wierd interests:roflhard: Maybe I can finish my pair of socks tonight.

:happydance::cheering: Well, I guess working all of these extra hours isn’t so bad after all. I have finished the second sock and they fit great. They feel soooooo good! The movie was good too. I’ve discovered that knitting is good for dieting. I didn’t snack all night long because my hands were busy. :roflhard: I’m happy and content, now I can go to sleep with a great big smile on my face. Happy Saturday Everyone!

No, I have not knit him socks, and i do not plan to. :teehee:

Yay for finishing them!! can’t wait to see pictures.

Hey Blog Buddy: Congratualtions about the socks and the wash cloths selling. I’m way proud of you! Keep up the good work!

My socks felt sooooo good this morning when I went to bed. I pampered my feet by using some body butter on them and then slipped into my new socks. Tonigt I started a pair for my DH using a sock weight yarn and size 2 needles. Boy was that frustrating! I lost count on how many times I started them over. But I’ve got a good start on them now and I think that they will turn out ok (I hope:lol:) The other socks that I’ve made were done with worsted weight and size 4 needles so this is a new challenge for me.

Today I splurged at the yarn store. They had so many pretty colors of sock weight yarn. YES I am obsessed with knitting sock!:roflhard: I ended up with a neutral color for my DH, another skien of Holly Hock for DD, and a really pretty aqua/lime green/purple/yellow for myself.

This weekend is Jazz Fest here in Sioux Falls and it is so busy at the hospital tonight. I don’t know it the two are related but it has been a really busy weekend. I guess that I won’t be bored tonight.:roflhard:

I can’t believe that my two days off are over with already! Where does time go? :?? I guess that means that I must be getting older because time goes by faster than ever. :roflhard:

My DH loves the socks that I’ve started for him. He doesn’t seem to care that the yarn cost $20.00 for a little skien and that it will probably take two skiens to make a pair of socks. It never ceases to amaze me how men don’t care what something cost when it’s related to them. But if it’s something that a woman thinks that she needs he says, “You paid how much for that?”:wall:MEN!:hair: The cost of his hobbies are not important but put my hobbies in the topic and he has a cow! I know I should be happy that he has a hobby that keeps him out of trouble and honest. He’s a good hubby, he just has no concept of how expensive things are!:???:

:yadda::violin: There, now I’m done whinning! Have a great week everyone.

I know exactly what you’re talking about!!!

At least with knitting there is something useful coming from it.

:hair::gah::wall: I am so frustrated!!! I was knitting all night and got the leg part of my DH socks to the 6inch mark that I needed. I started to knit the heel and realized that I had made a mistake. When I tried to fix my mistake I made it worse and ended up tearing apart the whole thing. I am so mad at myself. I hate this yarn! I’m ready to throw it away because I have started this particular pair of socks about 7 times. UGH!!! I think I need some sleep and a fresh start!

:hug::muah::hug:

I know the feeling! I have frogged more than I have finished.

Don’t give up, you will get it and the socks will be great!!!

I just had to do it. I had to take that night off from knitting after last nights mess!. So tonight I’m sewing for my two great nieces. I’m sewing them Raggdy Ann and Andy Dolls for their birthdays. One turned 3 on Monday and the other will be in two weeks. Their little brother will be 1 in October. My niece and her husband are very young and have been very busy.:roflhard: Anyway, I thoughat that this would be a nice gift from great auntie that they can snuggle up with. Tomorrow night it’s back to knitting those socks! I will not let them get the best of me. :teehee:

One great niece turned 3 on Monday and the other one will be 2 in two weeks. Yes, I did say that I’m a “great~old” auntie. Their little brother will be 1 in October. It just makes me tired thinking about all of that energy in those three tiny little bodies running around all day long. I’m glad that my kids are the age they are (12 & 10) because I have trouble keeping up with them, I can’t imagine what it must be like for my niece.

Ok, so this old great auntie also had an old tired body. It’s been rather warm :hot:here in the midwest and my body does not like it at all.:ick: I got some sewing done but had to stop because my back and neck hurt so bad that I couldn’t do it anymore. Now it’s time for me to develop a plan “B” for the little ones. Any good ideas? It’s been so long since my girls were that little. I know that Dora is popular so maybe I’ll just have to go buy them something. I’m running out of time. :grrr:

I’ve been reading a book by James Patterson to pass the time. The book is “Sam’s Letters to Jennifer,” and it’s a really good book. I just wish that I would have also brought along my knitting. I’m lost without my knitting. :x: My hands don’t know what to do without yarn and needles. It’s the one thing I won’t leave home without.

I’m still open for suggestions for birthday gifts. Anyone? :poke:

I knit up a quick “purse” for my nieces recently. I just knit a small rectangle (about 8 inches wide by 14 inches long) seamed up the sides leaving a portion on the end for a flap, added a button, and a strap and was done. I made 2 in one day, and I’m a slow knitter.

Just an idea.

There is a picture of the purse in “knit something purple KAL” somewhere.

Oh, here it is

You’ll need to scroll down a bit to see it.
