Can anyone help me find knitting patterns for boys? I have a 9yo and a 11yo. they are wearing mens clothing and things. I am just starting to knit so if they could be easy patterns that would help thanx Dawn
What type of items…Sweaters? Hoodies? Sweatshirts? Vests?
Any sweater, or similar, can be made to look masculine by the type of yarn, and perhaps changing to a diff st patt if the one in the original pattern isn’t to your liking. You could try lionbrand.com as they have lots of kids patts.
ETA: Knittingpatterncentral has an entire section for Boys (boy to teen) but you’d have to look thru the links for ones that appeal to you and meet your skill level. Depending on the sz of your boys you can also check out Men’s patts and see how small they run.

thank you. It would be nice to have patterns to all of them. I think I want to start with hats. I can follow a crocheting pattern but I am finding it hard to follow a knitting pattern Dawn
Hats are mostly unisex so just find a patt you like and choose a color and weight of yarn that you feel is something they’d wear. Make sure the yarn is consistent with the wash/wear the item will require.

cam that is just it I am so knew to this knitting thing I don’t know what I am looking for and I am clueless to where and find it. sorry Dawn
Here’s a ton of hat patterns. Start with the ones that have ‘simple’ or ‘easy’ in the name.
HTH,

thank you so much I hope you are well and wish you a good day
dawn what about looking at www.straw.com, tehy have some great free patterns there. have you looked on ravelry.com as well, there are tons upon tons on there. um, lion brand.
hats are great to learn on, what i did with my first propper project, i get a dish cloth pattern, decided the pattern was far far to pretty for a dishcloth so knitted it to the size i thought was right for a hat (it was for ds who was 3 at the time so small was good lol) rather than casting off i sewed through the stitch and gathered the end up tight, sewed the side and hey presto a hat lol.
if in doubt a scarf is a nice project to learn on, and you can find tons of free patterns or make up your own as you go along

You’re lucky to have boys to knit for. I have 3 sons, and only ONE of them wants me to knit a sweater for him. The older two HATE sweaters. :pout: I have made scarves, mittens, hats, and an afghan for them. I’m also making some ankle socks for them to wear with tennis shoes.
thank you for you reply. My oldest boy loves ancle socks. But I think I have to wait on those. I am just learning so it may take a while. Dawn
If you go on the internet just search for “knitting patterns”. There are tons of them out there.
