Hi! I’ve spent hours searching for a pattern for a knitted Christmas stocking with a horse motif. I’ve found patterns for applique horses, but I’m looking to knit one right in to the stocking. I’d appreciate any ideas, referrals and espcially patterns! Thanks:yay:
Welcome to KH!
I’ve never seen one with a horse. The closest I could come was a moose. You could either attempt to alter it or you might have to create your own pattern.

Oh wait…here’s one with a rocking horse. Probably not what you are looking for though, huh?

Thanks! I looked at the patterns, but neither one seemed to do. I did come across a small cross stitch pattern for a horse. I would like to do the horse in one color-has any one ever knit from a cross stitch pattern?
Here’s a horse head

Deb 51, I found what I wanted for a one color easy knit rocking horse pattern in the Leisure Arts book of baby washcloths to knit #4352. The pattern (along with 8 others) is pictured online at Leisure Arts. Am using the patterns for blankets plus lots of other things. They all measure about 7-8 ins. and might fit very well, I think, into your stocking plan. Just drop the border edge and incorporate into whatever.
Thanks to all of you who replied-they were great ideas. I found one tht can be done in 33 stitches, which I think will fit across my stocking, at crochet.about.com/library/blhorse1.htm, in case anybody else is looking. Thanks again! :cheering:
