Need Opinions - Inox vs. Addi Turbo

Hi all!

I bought a stash of Inox that were in the clearance bin at the LYS a while back and haven’t really used them yet. I’m working on one of the “spa facecloths” and wound up needing to use the Inox as they’re the only 6’s I have and I’m finding them to be REALLY comparable to the Addi Turbos I paid a fortune for.

Do you all have any feelings on this, those who have used both? I know the cable is different, it’s more of a black nylon or something, but I’m not having any problem with it twisting or kinking or anything and those needles sure feel fast and slippery! (ed.) Apparently I have the Inox Express, the nickel-plated aluminum with the black cord, just for clarification. Thanks!

P.S. Are my hands just big and fat or are US 6 needles where they start getting “small”? I’ve worked on 3’s and 5’s, but I really feel like “small” starts at 6. Just me?

Thanks all!!!

I have one Inox and one Addi. I like the Addi better but I don’t have the Inox Express, just the regular one. I DO like it, let me clarify, but the cable on the Addi is so much more flexible. I would tend to go with the Inox though, just because of the $$$ factor.

ADDI ADDI ADDI ADDI ADDI ADDI!

Why?

  1. I prefer the tips on the Addis, but someone else may just as well prefer the Inox, so that’s not really a good reason to give someone else.

  2. I’m super picky about metal texture. I can’t stand scrubbing stainless steel dishes with Brillo pads, for instance. My teeth are getting goosebumps just thinking about it, I swear. I’m weird, what can I say? But the finish on the Addis is just soooooo much nicer to the touch, IMHO.

  3. The aforementioned cable issue. I just like the Addi cable better.

The bottom line…it’s worth the money to get what you really love in sizes you use all the time. I have Addis in 6 and 8, for instance, and there’s always something on them. For anything else, Inox is a good runner-up if you don’t have a weird metal hang-up. (Although personally I use my Denises if I’m not using the Addi’s…they’re super light and they really go almost as fast, but then I’m not a speed knitter).

Sorry to ramble, but I actually have a strong opinion about this one. Don’t settle for less than what you love if you’re going to spend hours and hours with it. (That goes for knitting needles, friends, men, coffee, chocolate…you name it. )

I have to say that I have, use, buy & LOVE them both!! If Inox Express went as smalll as the addi’s I don’t think I would ever have started using my addi’s, but, alas, they do not…so I have been of no help!! I have Inox greys for some socks and am getting addi’s for others…depends upon the yarn. I will say, for the $, Inox are a great buy…but, I also get my addi’s for a nice price

Haven’t used Inox express, but regular metal inox compared to Addi, it’s Addi all the way. Saying this from a luxury standpoint… there is nothing wrong with the Inox at all.

Still hoping Santa will bring me some Addi’s, though!

thank you all so much!!!

rebecca, i did notice that the size selection is not nearly as wide in Inox as Addi, so that will help me make some of my decisions there! and then, of course, if i have to decide between Addis and no yarn, or yarn and Inox, I will go with the Inox. i have knit quite a bit on that facecloth and i really am enjoying the Inox so far, although STILL not enjoying the size 6.

and speaking of the facecloth, I MUST mention here that I have 1) fixed a drop stitch with a handy dandy crochet hook AND 2) laddered down to correct a P that should have been a K, BOTH without looking at the KH videos or Knitting Experience books for the FIRST TIME! It FINALLY just came naturally to me and I am SO excited to share that. Tinking and ripping, on the other hand, I’ve been performing deftly at for months.

Thanks again everyone for your input! I’m so glad to have found this board! It’s great to have people like you all to bounce stuff off of.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!

if i have to decide between Addis and no yarn, or yarn and Inox, I will go with the Inox

Exaaaactly my logic! I have lots more inox, plastic, bamboo needles than I do Addi’s. Because of that, I have lots more yarn. Not to say I have ENOUGH yarn.

:hiding: psssst… :hiding: …over here… :hiding: …i have something real nice for you… :hiding: …look over here :hiding:
