I hope this finds you all well. I’m working on Paintbox Yarn’s “Zig Zag Set”, link here:
I’m knitting the cardigan in the set, and I’ve come to the point where I need to join my shoulder seams together, but I need help in figuring out how to do that. I know how to do the mattress stitch with knitted work, but as you can see from my photo, I’m joining purl-side work as this is reverse stockinette with a cable pattern. Additionally, the work is aligned differently. What I mean is, the rows are not horizontal from my seaming perspective but are vertical, opposite to how the stitches would be in an ordinary video demonstrating how to seam reverse stockinette stitch.
To be specific, I’ve been trying to follow along to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmJCcj0TZ-A
However, I don’t think the seam would look as clean if I tried to follow along with what she’s doing because my rows of stitches have a rotated orientation.
In my picture, the piece on the left is one of the front panels of a cardigan, and the piece on the right is the back. Essentially, I’m trying to seam together the right shoulder. Any ideas as to what method or seam I should use?
Thank you,
Mia
