Need help with instructions on a Vogue sweater pattern

I’m working on a sweater and its a basic pattern but can’t figure this part out.

Raglan cap shaping
K3, K2tgog, work to last 5 sts, ssk, K3. - got this part. Here’s the confusion:

Rep this row every [2nd, 4th] row 3 times, then every 2nd row 5 (6,8,10) times - 9 sts.

I’m knitting a large, so I know I need to do 8 times but I’m confused by the numbers in the brackets and then next instructions. Wouldn’t 2nd and 4th row be every other row? Wouldn’t the following part be every other row??

Every 2nd row is every other row, rows 2,4,6,8.
Every 4th row is every other right side row, rows 4,8,12,16.
For your pattern you’re either to decrease every 2nd or every 4th row for 3 times.

Then yes, the pattern goes on to decrease every other row for 8 times.
