I am working on a champagne wrap using Andean Silk. I am looking at the skeins realizinf that 96 yds will mean I will need to change it soon. So how would be the best way to add the next one. Will the silk allow a felted join? If not where would be the best place to hide the join?
Thanks
just bumping as I will need to add a new skein soon.
All animal fibre is supposed to felt, but silk… mmm… not hair, like most animal fibre is, would you call an insect an animal? I am not sure, I have never heard of silk being felted, my guess is no. I recommend a Russian join, lots of tutes online, I recommend also that you practise on a couple of bits of other fibres first to get the hang of it. It should not be more visible than felting, IMO.

Andean Silk from Knitpicks? if so it is 55% alpaca and 22% merino so should do a felted join with almost no effort at all.
Thanks for your answers I will try to felt first russian second. It may be a bit now as I had to frog. Ok so the lifeline talk does apply to me. Lesson learned; will get some floss today!
