Need help with Boye pattern

I recently purchased a Boye “I Taught Myself to Knit in the Round” book. Everything was going swimmingly with my first project (fingerless gloves), until I came to the instruction for making the thumb opening. It says “Row 1 (WS): p1, (k2, p2) to last 3sts, k2 sl 1 purlwise wyif.” The previous instruction had me just k2, p2 in the round, until the piece measures 4 1/2 in.

How do I do a row on the Wrong Side?!? I’m so confused. I’ve read, re-read, and re-read yet again the front section of this instructional book. I have even asked other knitters in person, as well as scouring the Internet to find some sort of an answer. No one seems to be able to help. I am now anxiously awaiting further instruction from the knowledgeable people on this forum. Tia!!!

Hi, You switch the inside (WS) to the outside (RS) by pushing the work through the center of your needles, circs, whichever one your using. With the ws facing you can now work the row as instructed. You will switch back at some point further along and you just push the work back through the center again.
Hope this helps, enjoy your knitting.
