Need help understanding a pattern please

Hi, I’m knitting the Metropolitan Pullover by Tori Yu. I cast on 46sts. I completed row’s 3 and 4 and had an inc of 40sts. 46+40=86.
Then I did row’s 5 and 6 that equals inc of 12sts. I repeated row’s 5 and 6, another 12sts of an inc.
That brings me to 110sts.
The pattern says I should have 126sts.
Please help Processing: 1000013125.jpg…

Your photo didn’t fully upload, do you want to try again. It takes a while before it’s ready to post (you should see it in the preview window when it’s complete).
Or you could type the few rows where the increases are.

Thank you , it went through this time

Thanks for posting the pic.

You’re making the 5th size?
It may sound silly but have you checked you followed the correct cast on number? It’s the only part I can’t see.

It seems to not add up. I wonder if there is any errata for this pattern, I can’t find any and lots of people have made this with no comments about errors in the pattern as far as I can see.

Did you definitely count your stitches after the repeats of rows 3 and 4?

I wondered about that as well.

Hi this is the full page, yes i cast on 46sts and i kept an account of the incs as i went . I’ve looked at it so many times and cant figure it.
After rows 1 and 2 i had 16sts. Increased.
After rows 3 and 4 i had 40sts inc. I then did row 5 and 6 twice that brought me an extra 24st inc . Ive ended up with a total of 110 sts on my needle. I really hope you can help as I’ve come to a standstill

Oh, thats the best result.
Any chance you can tell us what had gone wrong? Partly just noset an partly it could help someone else who might have a similar problem in the future.

I notice your notes for M1L and M1R, lifting from back or front, i personally found that method impossible to remember and discovered roxanne richardson’s method it is the same result but the method doesn’t require lift from back and front they are both lifted fom the front and it depends which needle you pick up with to determine left and right leaning result . Now i never need to look it up or write it down as it’s easy to remember. I don’t want to confuse you with various methods but if you’re interested you could watch her video or i can find it for you.

Thank you so much, I will definitely look that up. All advice and tips are welcome.

I ripped back the 3rd and 4th rows, there I found my mistakes.

Again thank you

I posted this on another thread today so I’ll post here too as I have it handy.

From memory your increases were on the right side of the work, if you need the mirrored purls there’s a video for that too.
