Hello,
I am a new knitter and after completing 2 scarves am ready to tackle a baby blanket.
Does anyone have a super easy baby blanket pattern for me to try?
I searched online and found “Angel Baby LW1417” pattern. The pattern makes a blanket 36". That seems kinds big to me, could i make it smaller?
I appreciate all comments and suggestions you have for me!

Search this page until you find something you like. Baby blankets aren’t any more complicated than a scarf is. It’s just bigger.
It’s when you get to sweaters it gets hard…
I used the pattern from this thread

It was fairly simple and turned out beautifully. I redid the math to make it the size I wanted. Good luck.
36" square is about the usual size for a baby blanket, but you can make a smaller one that can be used for tucking around the baby in a car seat or stroller.
A very easy one is this, knit in garter on the diagonal:
CO 5 sts, knit 2 rows then -
k3, yo, knit to end of row. Repeat this row until the size you want.
To decrease - k2, k2tog, yo, k2 tog, knit to end of row. Repeat that row until you’re down to 5 stitches, then BO.

My favorite size was 36 inches square, but they can be smaller.
This is probably the easiest blanketI’ve every made. What I like about it is that it’s always square and you knit till you’re done or run out of yarn

I’m using this pattern stitch for a baby blanket and I love it! I cast on 120 (+ one extra as per the pattern) and added twelve extra stitches for a six stitch border for a total of 133 cast on. There is a mistake in the pattern on row six - it ends with a P5 nor a P4. It is coming out beautiful and an easy pattern repeat to remember. :sun:
