Nana's Blog, Please feel free to post in it!

Yeah, they do it to us. :zombie: If you look at different poster’s status, they say different things depending on the number of posts. Last I’d noticed mine I was grafting the toe.

I’ve either lost 2 sts on my current project or picked up 2 and I’m tinking. That’s all I can do, tink till I figure it out. When the count is correct on both vest fronts I’ll figure out where to go from there. To increase or not to increase, that is the question.

You’re knitting a vest ? Cool , I’ve only knitted one vest so far and I ended up felting it because it was to loose , now it’s to hot to wear

Hubby and I made turkey hot pockets today so the kids are on their way over for hot out of the over turkey hot pockets with a side of mom’s cranberry mix.

Yeah, it’s a top down raglan style to use up some acrylic yarn and keep me warm when it’s cold…like now we’re @37, down from a high of 38, and yes it’s COLD and we already had a freezing, c-c-cold, windy spell and this is western Washington where it’s always gray and rainy but doesn’t really get cold very often and it’s still a long time till spring, and yes I’m a wuss when it comes to weather…and I’ve started it in yellow, a bright cheery color I rarely use but will most like switch to something else soon. I’m sure there won’t be enough yellow to finish. It will have cap sleeves. That’s all planned, but I might frog it.

Enjoy laughing 'cause I think it’s cold here, I know it gets much colder and stays that way longer where you are. :roflhard: might help you warm up some.

37 degrees , stop messin with me woman :tap: That’s spring time weather .

Now my DIL wants me to knit her GD Molly from the Big Comfy Chair :hair: I was showing her the Holly and Finn doll I’m working on and she says " Wow mom, you could easily turn that into a Molly doll for Sophia " I wouldn’t mind but this child goes through toys like mad. Plus that’s all I hear from my GD, how Sophia has way to many toys and doesn’t appreciate them. So I’m going to take months knitting up a life size doll that will more than likely end up in the trash or goodwill in a couple of months  You know what , I’ll just have to be the horrible Great Grandma this time .

 NOT horrible. Sometimes we need to say no. I suppose that if your DIL wants a hand knit toy for her grand then she could learn to make them herself. Betcha if a few people really had a clue how much work and time it takes to do these things they’d be a bit more considerate in what they ask for and less likely to take them for granted.

I hope you had a good laugh at my expense, that was the point all along. IT IS COLD!

Did you email me on Nov. 24? I think I PMed you to ask. I thought might be from you but I’m not sure. I will respond if it’s from you, otherwise it’s headed for the trash.

Yes, I did email. Add me to your contacts if you like.

Well apparently one can butt dial 911:noway: My daughter bought me a new cell phone because my old one I couldn’t text on it and I’ve never text before and she hated the fact that she couldn’t shoot me a text as she put it. I was in the car driving and I went to pull my phone out of my pocket , I sat it on the seat next to me and the next thing I know it’s ringing . I answered it and it was an operator from 911 asking me what my emergency was :oops::help: needless to say I was confused as I didn’t dial 911 butt apparently my butt was in trouble :roflhard: Dang new phone ! So now I have to find out what it is I need to do so that never happens again.

Yikes! Not a good thing to have happen. I can just imagine them setting up a sting here in Washington, you answer and the lights on the cop car behind you come on. Is it illegal to hold a cell phone and drive where you live? I can text on my flip phone but it’s not real easy. I like that. I’m not into texting much. I can do SMS via my Google number so I can send messages to phones and get the replies on 'puter.

Good. I will do that. I will now answer your email, but after I’ve done drunk my coffee.

I’ve never text until this past weekend , I was a good girl though because I wasn’t texting or even using the phone while I was driving . I just took it out of my pocket and sat it on the seat next to me so I have no idea how it happen . I wish I knew . I should ask our X he’s probably up on stuff like this . Old ladies like me are clueless on technical fandagoly modern stuff .

ha! i had to research HDMI (modern fancy audio/video) to RCA (old-school audio/video) converters, so i could figure out how to connect my mom’s new dvd/blu-ray/streaming device to her not-that-old tube TV. there are many things i don’t know… but i DO know how to look many of them up and fake it

not sure what your phone did. i have the ā€˜call confirm’ app on my smartphone. it makes me hit a button saying yes, i really do want to call, and i really do want to call that number. i don’t make many calls FROM my phone (much more texting and mobile web use) so it’s not a big hassle for me to hit that extra button.

a fun article about butt dialing and 911 is at How To Avoid Being A 911 'Butt-Dialer' Nuisance | PCWorld and includes suggestions for minimizing the possibilities. my favorite is the SWAT story - wife heard rap music and muffled talk, so she suspected husband was kidnapped’ ha ha ha…

X, maybe you can answer this one for me, the link you gave me said to Lock the phone , that I know how to do but if I lock it is that the same as turning it off ? Will I still get phone calls if I do that ? Hubby will not text , he only calls me when I’m at work .

I’m not sure I’ve ever really made a for real butt call. I’ve pressed the wrong buttons and made calls to the wrong person. That can be embarrassing. I’ve gotten butt calls from other people. Takes a bit to figure out what’s going on.

if you lock the phone (usually with a password, passnumber, maze, etc), it is still powered ON - it’s not the same as turning the phone off - it just isn’t immediately accessible. you can set it so incoming calls bypass that and can be answered right away, but you’d still need to enter your code to make an outgoing call. all of that is under the preferences and settings menus. i can’t tell you exactly because all the phone models/carriers work a little differently.

Thanks X, I’m going to AT&T in the morning this is just stupid stupid stupid . I can’t reset my pin # for voicemail and now the phone won’t let me text to some of my contacts :hair: tells me there’s an error ? I hate new things , new stuff I don’t understand and the two little info books that came with the phone are not helping me at all :wall: Is it just because I’m this shrinking , gray haired little old Nana that this makes no sense to me:whoosh:I hate modern technology…well at least right now I do.

Where are grands when you need them? sigh

it all takes work and practice. it also takes some patient tech support, which is hit-and-miss. fingers crossed for you tomorrow

Well, I finally got my phone reset :yay: I have to say texting which I never thought I would be doing is kind of fun , shhhh! don’t repeat that to anyone . Hubby thinks it’s stupid and that I look like a fool texting but at the same time he’ll say , hey text so and so and ask them… He said his fingers are to big to text ,which may be right the buttons are tiny things.

Well, I need to get back to knitting this hoodie scarf for my mail lady if I’m going to give it to her by Christmas. I’m not using a pattern on this and I’m not sure what I’ll do for the hood part. I thought of knitting two piece and seaming them together but then I thought of just increasing sts on the outer edge (front) when I get close to the shoulder ,maybe 8sts two each row and then knit until I get to the section where I would need to decrease back down to the other shoulder  not sure yet what I’ll do
