Nana's Blog, Please feel free to post in it!

Have a good day and stock up so you don’t need to go to the grocery store. Today we have sunshine! I have laundry drying outside. Love it.

““He’s very creative, he just recently learned how to make socks,” said Mrs. Aldrich. She had gotten a sock pattern from a veteran knitter friend of hers, who warned Ian that socks can be difficult, especially starting out.
“He did a sock in a day,” said Mrs. Aldrich, laughing with pride.
“It’s kind of difficult, but they come out looking really cool,” said Ian.”

a sock a day… sigh oh ian, good for you…

.

A sock a day! :notworthy:
The best I can do is a sock in a week! I guess he must not do anything else…

I’m not much faster myself. I love seeing kids learning to knit. I think it should be taught in the classrooms .

http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/classbenefits.html

I’ve read accounts of kids learning to knit in school. They made it sound like torture. I think classes that teach knitting, crochet, many other things, would be good IF they aren’t taught bad habits or that there is only one right way to do it. I hated cooking and sewing classes at school. I’d been doing both for some time at home and my teacher had a real gift for making things extremely difficult and she was impossible to please.

Some of out posters have extracurricular knitting classes at their school. AuburnChick comes to mind, I’m sure there is at least one more.

I love Needle Felting . It’s fun and you can get so creative with it. I’ve needle felted dogs and gave them to friends as gift and needle felted a fox for my GS . Best thing is you don’t need to be artistic to do this craft, you just need to have raw wool and barbed needles , and can be bought online . There are plenty of youtube tutorials to guide you, that’s how I needle felted my fox. Also found an alpaca farm that sells wool that is matted and sells for less and all you have to do is card it with two large wired dog brushes. Here is something I want to try next.

Here’s a link to my creations of needle felted animals

One of my future projects is to needle felt the whole Nativity Scene for Christmas as a gift for my daughter.

Please note this is not, I repeat, this is N0T One of my projects. It is a link to a photo on Pinterest that shows what my goal is for needle felting my Nativity Scene. I am hoping to make mine look similar to this type of work.

it’s like knitted/felted willow tree… (http://www.willowtree.com/)

interesting. when i worked at hallmark we sold literally thou$and$ worth of them monthly. it’s a very popular style.

.

Those are cool felteds. I’m the little kid who thinks they should have faces. Will you give yours faces?

Yes they are similar . I forgot I have one of those with wings,

Yes, I may only do like a shadow type face where you know it has a nose, mouth, eyes but no details . Like Mannequins if you know what I mean.

Oh if only to be young again, I can see me getting into this .

I love this Man !! Grab a tissue . His gift was awesome I only wish he would have reach down and put his hat on her head . She would surely have worn that hat every where she went.

Emma !! stop !! No , stop ,sit, son of a b!t@h stoppprunning ohhhmyyarn:hair:it’s only my yarn chasing your butt not the boogie man now look what you’ve done:tap:yarn twisted, wrapped around every thing , yards and yards of yarn , no! get away from me, mommie is not happy with you right now your only saving grace is nothing came off the needles that are wrapped around you neck at this moment.

Some idoit , not going to say who, left their knitting laying on the sofa to go get another cuppa tea and some idoit dog decided to jump up on the sofa for a nap. She must have heard me drop some food in her dish and came running to see what tasty tidbits awaited her. When the yarn tangled all around her she went nuts trying to out run it. It took some time to untangle her path of twisted tangled yarn …no bone today, but I still love you Emma.

Oh, no! I’m sorry it happened. I hope you’ll forgive me for :roflhard: . It’s funny because it’s not my yarn.

Come on sing along !!

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
We’re happy tonight.
Walking in a winter wonderland.

Gone away is the bluebird,
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song, as we go along,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

Emma went for her first walk with snow for the year. She is a snow baby, she loves the stuff. I on the other hand could live without the stuff. It looks like a freakin blizzard outside right now . Time to pull my knitted wool sweaters out of storage.

I should be seaming my Gargoyle up and stuffing it this weekend  If my cold doesn’t do me it that is. Getting out the Buckwheat Honey !

http://www.snippetsofmyffc.com/2012/08/tutorial-fan-blade-duster.html

OMG! Why haven’t I thought of this and I have a fan in desperate need of a good dusting that is sitting smack dab in the center over my bed and I have the fabric

Feel better soon. Keep warm and make yourself as comfy as you can. We’ve been cold and very windy with gusts up to 60 mph. The wind is letting up some and the gusts are down below 40 mph. I expect the rain to be back soon. I’m not used to low humidity and my nose is dry, my hands are dry, my lips are chapped. Enjoy poking Gargoyle with a needle. Paybacks. :teehee:

Sad news for our hometown, we lost one of our firefighters this week. He was off duty working on a retaining wall and feel 12 down and the concrete wall fell on top of him . This is not a big town and he was very well know by many residents here. It’s a huge loss for our community. Larry will be sadly missed .

On the knitting of my gargoyle… I am now done knitting all but the tail but I can add that later. Right now I’m trying to seam it all up and I hate seaming, I’m not real good at it like other knitters. Arms, legs, wing, eye, brow, ears, hands, thumbs, feet, nose, tongue are all seamed and added to the main body. The pattern is lacking in explanations in just how to attach each piece I know it’s mostly common sense but really? To attach the hands and feet is a serious question when not clearly explained to someone that has never knitted this project. There are photos of the hands and feet showing the hands and feet already done but not how she did it and the only explanations given is to ‘Now attach the hands and feet’ it would seems easy until one goes to do it. the stitches do not line up , the opening of the hand (at the wrist ) is much larger then at the end of the arm :wall: . Well I guess I will be heading back over to Ravelry to ask the designer just how to do this :hair: She lives in Wales and the time zone is different so this really slows me down.
