What’s a chibby?
I’m working on a potato chip scarf. Pretty close to mindless.

GG, I am English and I constantly keep trying to knit Continental while I am working on a piece. I keep thinking , If only I could find a good way to hold the yarn it might work. I’m so so hard to watch knitting the Continental Purl st that it’s painful to watch. I wish I would have started Continental knitting when I as a beginner knitter
A Chibi (sorry I spelled it wrong) is a weaving needle with a large eye to thread yarn through .
I bought yet more knitting /crocheting books over the last week. I was excited to buy the Granny Square Book by Margaret Hubert. Mind you, I brought them all used at half the price of the new ones off of eBay and Amazon. I had to reorder one of my knitting books that I previously had because I loaned it to someone I am no longer friends with and rather then ask for it back I consider it a small price to buy to end a bad relationship.
I haven’t bought any books for a long time. Somehow collecting books that take up space (for yarn) doesn’t appeal to me. I’ll think there’s something good in them and then never get around to doing anything from them. The one real exception was when I got serious about crochet, I bought a booklet of crochet stitches at Wallyworld and that I actually used.
Now that I have figured out what and how to knit the hands and feet of my Gargoyle I think this designer of the pattern has an ingenious method of knitting the digits up . It’s like magic how it comes together. I’m hoping the same idea can be used to knit gloves for winter. The pattern for the hands and feet is knitted in one panel up to were the digits start to come into the pattern. Next you knit so many sts on the rs say 12 then turn and knit only on those 12 sts which form the middle digit decreasing to tip (3 digits total) when this one is done you cut the yarn pull it thru the sts . Next with (RS)facing you knit say 5 sts on left needle ,turn , p 5 sts just knitted and p 5 more from other needle (left needle) knit only these 10 sts to decrease sts etc… so you’re working from the middle out . Maybe this isn’t anything new to most knitters but this is new to me and I want to know if this is how they knit gloves ? If yes, I’m knitting me some gloves !
The fingers are seamed? I’m reading that they’re knit flat so they would have to be seamed. :??
Yes, the fingers are seamed and down one side of the hand is seamed. If you’ve never knitted this it’s weird how it comes together . The finished piece gets folded in half to form this tiny hand with 3 fingers . The thumb is knitted and added on later.
Usually gloves aren’t seamed. They could be. If/when you try gloves this way be sure to let us know how it works.
I’ve never knitted a pair of gloves before but I have a link given to me by the designer of the Gargoyle that says these gloves are knitted very similar to the hands and feet in her pattern pattern for a pair knitted gloves ,which I assume are knitted flat as well. I haven’t read over the pattern yet.

The hands and feet of this guy are knitted flat and digits as well so when your done you fold the piece in half and you’ll have 3 digits for the hand and 4 digits for the foot . You seam one side of each digit and on the last digit you seam all the way down the side of the hand/foot then you stuff the piece.
I want to knit these
Thanks for the link. I’ll really look at it later. Right now I’m reworking flaps on a Drops slipper pattern. I did what the pattern said and I didn’t like it. Now I’ll see if I like my way better.

Sorry, this isn’t a free pattern either. But I just wanted to show them off. The photo of the before and after felting is hysterical
These look like the ones you posted , is it? and the pattern is free:woohoo:
I like the huge slippers before felting.:teehee: Really gives a take on how much stuff shrinky dinks in the process.
I’ve done Non-Felted Slippers Biscotte’s version. The link is to my post about them. The look is quite similar, the construction is different. The non-felteds start at the middle of the sole and the Drops ones start at the ankle. I’m not sure which method I prefer. I have to finish these and see what I think. They’re for my daughter.
I prefer my way over the drops way. They said to work the flap edge stitch in garter. Didn’t work well for me so I redid it and switched to st st for the edge stitches. Much nicer.
