My very first Design pattern.

I finally finished my very first designed pattern. (Basketweave Stitch Cowl). It is now published on Ravelry. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/basket-weave-stitch-cowl

I started learning how to knit 5 years ago. I am always fascinated when I see people knitting. Most especially when they’re waiting around. (Dr’s office, on the train, on the plane etc).
Then, one day, I finally took the courage to I pushed myself to learn how to knit -the Continental method. I watched and watched the Youtube videos over and over again. Thank God for the Social media!

I was frustrated at first when I couldn’t hold the needles in place. (Always dropping them on the floor, under the couch, or under the bed🥲). There were times when I feel like I want to quit. But, Patience and persistent always pays off. “When there’s a will, There’s a way”

Luckily, on my 55th Birthday, I received my First set of Addis Interchangeable Circular needle set from husband. What a life changer. Two needles on both sides? No more dropsy!
Since then, couldn’t put my knitting needles down. I have no idea and nobody told me …that Knitting is very addictive. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I would like to extend my profound gratitude to this Amazing Group. Most of all to the dedicated and very talented Admins. Thanks a million!

Happy Knitting Everyone!

Congratulations on implementing your first design pattern! :tada: That’s a big milestone in your journey as a developer. Design patterns are powerful tools that help make code more structured, maintainable, and scalable.

-Thank you😊 Im very excited to finally achieved my goal to become a developer.

Which design pattern did you start with, and what was your experience like?

-I started with garter stitch on straight needles. I used my own/ made up design and I ended up a Cowl for my husband which He was very proud to wear.

Did you find it challenging to implement, or did it click right away? Also, how do you feel it improved your code?

Yes, as a beginner and a self taught knitter, it was very challenging to implement such patterns.

With lots of practice, patience and perseverance, I am building more confidence in achieving my goals to be a better Knitter and a “designer”.

Looking forward to hearing more about your experience! Keep exploring and experimenting—you’re on the right track!
