My unfinished Noro Sweater

My Step-mother who is from Japan bought me 10 skeins of Noro Blossom yarn(i’m not 100% sure that the yarn is Blossom, there’s no english on the label). So I wanted to make a sweater out of it because I have never knitted a sweater before. I knitted the back and two front pieces and started on the sleeves but I realized that I was going only have enough yarn for one sleeve. So I ripped out the sleeve, and I started making the sleeve a 3/4 sleeve, so I got about half way done the first one and realized that I still didn’t have enough yarn for both sleeve. :pout: So i stopped working on it because I don’t know what to do with it. I don’t want to make it a vest I hate them. The weird part is that in the pattern(which is from Noro knits book, its the Eloise pattern) calls for 8 skeins of the yarn, using US 8 needles. I was thinking maybe I would ripped it all out and start again on US 9’s.

:waah:

Sure, you could work it on the 9s, or maybe even 10s. Depends on how thin the yarn is; you’d do a size smaller too.

I will probably try knitting it on 10’s and knit a smaller size.

Do you like short sleeved things?

I just finished that exact sweater for my niece. I also ran out of yarn, but attributed it to my niece being 6’1" tall so I made the sleeves and body longer. I also used a size 7 needle b/c I like a denser fabric. I ordered addt’l skeins from www.yarnmarket.com and used them for the sleeves. I didn’t notice any dye lot differences. I was also happy with the service from yarnmarket – quick delivery and careful packaging. It’s a beautiful sweater and worth buying more yarn. I’d send you my leftovers, but ended up w/ very little leftover.

I don’t like short sleeves. At least not on a sweater.

Auntie-Em, thanks for the tip but I can’t spend anymore on yarn right now. I just spent $100 at KnitPicks.

It’s look like I’m going to have to suck it up and knit it on bigger needles. At least its great to work with.
