My socks are too tight!

I have just learned to knit toe-up and 2 at a time, but am finding that when I get to the cuff to finish, I cannot fit my foot comfortably through the cuff to get the sock on. It is too tight. I have had this experience when finishing sweaters, where the neck hole is too tight around the collar to get my head through. Is there a simple solution to this? I have tried using larger needles when casting off, but this only seems to make my socks floppy at the cuff when I want them to be more snug. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Is it just too tight at the very top where you bind off? Or is the whole sock too tight?

If the whole sock is too tight cast on more stitches or increase a few more rows if doing toe up.

If it’s the bind off use a stretchier bind off and/or have a few more stitches at the top edge. Since larger needles aren’t working for you check these bind offs to see if one of them might be better for you.

I will check out those two links. Thanks for the response. The socks fit great, once I get the dinky hole over my fat foot…

I finished my first toe up sock and the bind off is too tight. I used needles 2 sizes bigger, but it is still too tight. I have the second sock 2/3 finished and don’t want to scrap the entire project, as they are for my expecting daughter in law. I am hoping she can use them while in labor.
Is there anything I can do? Can I take out the already “done” bind off? HELP
