My So-Called scarf...I'm stuck already!

Last night I wanted to start my first “My so-called scarf,” [http://www.sheepinthecity.prettyposies.com/archives/000079.html] and I’m stuck on row one! :frowning:

Row 1: K1, sl 1, K1, psso but before dropping the slipped stitch from the left needle, knit into the back of it repeat until there is one stitch left, K1

Am I supposed to slip the first stitch purl-wise? That’s the only way I can figure out how I could knit into the back of it without removing it from the needle. If it matters, I knit Continental.

THanks in advance for any help!

Hey there! I’m knitting this right now!!! I had a *&$% of a time figuring this out. What FINALLY helped me (I knit continental as well) was I went to YouTube and entered in the name of the pattern so I could watch a VIDEO of the stitches she used!!! THAT TOTALLY helped me and know I’m going and blowing on it.

And yes, I slipped my purlwise.

Ha, I was asking the same question a week ago! Apparently you can cheat a bit by slipping a st, k1, yo, and passing the slip st over for that part. (Thanks suzeeq and Ingrid). It sounds a lot easier to me.

Thank you both so much! I just watched the video on You Tube (a great idea, btw!) and I think I’ll try the YO version! Hopefully I’ll be okay with row 2. Unfortunately I don’t have internet at home, so I have to get my KnittingHelp fix on my lunch hour at work…and I didn’t being my knitting with me to try it. :frowning:

Whenever there’s a slip st in a dec, as in pass sl st over, you slip it knitwise. If you slip pwise it twists the stitch which will be quite noticeable in this pattern.

Update–it worked! Now that I know what I;m doing, it’s a really fun and easy pattern. Thanks so much! Here’s me scarf so far…I couldn’t resist adding the fringe already.

Nice job! Thanks for posting about this…it’s a beautiful pattern!
