So tomorrow I’m going to check out the local (as in 50 miles away :roflhard: ) yarn store. I’ll probably buy some stuff, but my main goal is to actually check out different yarns as I’ve only used acrylic before.
I’d like to see how different yarns feel and make notes about them because in 2 months I’m going to be moving to a place where the nearest craft store is 120 miles away and the nearest yarn store is 180 miles away. That means ordering stuff off the internet. I’m leery of ordering yarn that I don’t know how it feels (especially if it’s pricey) so I figured this is the thing to do.
I’m from that area. I drive through Lemoore when I visit family. I was born and raised east of where you are, in Exeter. Are you traveling to Visalia, per chance?
If so there are several yarn shops there. The Knitter Haven “A Little Knit of Heaven” is on Church Street. I haven’t actually been to that shop, but my Mom bought some wonderful wool there for me.
Anyway, I do think it’s a good idea to get the ‘feel’ of yarn. It’s so hard for me now to knit with acyrlic, it feels ‘stickygooeyucky’ lol
That sounds like fun! I buy most of my yarn online, and I think it is a great idea to go “feel stuff out” (pun intended ), so you know what you’re getting when you order later!
$100 yay good for you… restraint WHO? WHA? restrain me!
mmmmm… merino
i laughed at the stickyuckygooey… indianprincess its so true (you can hear it squeak) and i never realized it before i had knit w/a natural fibers… (mmmm merino)
welcome to the dark side sabrina (noro noro noro) mu-ahahaahah…
Wow… I’d actually love to order from the internet, but most places are located in the states and we have a limited variety of knitting stuff here in NZ. And shipping costs SO much. sigh
Well, the yarn store wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would be. I couldn’t seem to find a yarn I really liked. I was looking for something VERY specific. I did pick up some, but I only ended up spending $25. I’ve decided to buy a set of Options with the rest of the money. :happydance:
