I want to make a sweater for my little girl, but I can’t find any beginner/easy sweater patterns for dogs. All the ones I seem to find are for Intermediate or Advanced knitters.
Any suggestions? I would really like to get it done before summer gets here! :lol:
there is a great easy pattern in Knitting For Dogs. Its a fair isle, but you can easily do it without the colorwork. Actually, there are SEVERAL great patterns in that book!
What does fair isle mean?
That Fun Fur one on the Lion Brand website looks easy. I was going to try and attempt it, without the Fun Fur.
Fair Isle is when you do stranded knitting with different colors, like you see in this video.

to make to my little puppy a sweater (she’s only a pound and half right now, so it didn’t take me very long). Its an easy pattern to follow.

Wow, I can’t even imagine attempting that - ever! I know I will someday, but its so weird how I’m always ‘afraid’ of trying something, like my sock endevour, and it turns out okay. I’m a bit on the strange side :lol:
Now I assume when you are doing the fair isle you are doing a sweater or something where it will be on the wrong side and not a scarf? Did that make sense? So the long strands of yarn don’t show. Let me know if this didn’t make sense.
She’s a lab/hound mix. Such a sweetie. She’s my whole world (I love my kitties as well

That makes perfect sense! The inside of a Fair Isle sweater has the strands, and if you were going to make a scarf with it, you’d knit it in the round so it would be double thick and the strands would be on the inside of the tube.
It’s really not that hard. Just ‘taking turns’ with different colors as you knit.
