Hi everyone! I’m new to this forum, I found you because I’m knitting my first cardigan and the pattern is giving me headaches
Here’s the link to the pattern: https://www.spotlightstores.com/projects/clothing-projects/northcote-cotton-mans-cardigan-project
I’m now working on the right front, and it says this:
Shape Front Slope and Collar - Keeping rib correct, 1st row - Rib 9, M2 (2 sts increased for collar), rib 2, rib 2tog (one st decreased for front slope), rib to end … 60 (64-72) sts.
Keeping rib correct, and working extra sts into rib, dec one st for front slope (as before) in every foll 4th row 5 times, AT SAME TIME inc 2 sts for Collar (as before) in foll 4th row once, then in every foll 6th row twice … 61 (65-73) sts.
When it says “as before” does this means that I have to rib 9 and then do the decrease? or do I have to do it at the beginning?
Then it says:
Dec one st at armhole edge in next row, then in every foll alt row 2 (4-6) times, AT SAME TIME dec one st (as before) for front slope in 3rd row, then in every foll 4th row 1 (1-4) time/s, then in every foll 6th row 9 (9-8) times, AT SAME TIME inc 2 sts (as before) for collar in next row, then in every foll 6th row 10 times … 65 (65-67) sts.
The armhole edge would be the beginning or the last stitches? and here it says “as before” again, do I have to rib 9 again before I make the decrease?
I think this pattern is very confusing
Please help me…
