I’m 75% finished with this darling cable sweater in a dark cobalt blue, but the cables do not show up. I’ve thought of making a knitted robe to sew on top of the cables. Or start all over, and use 2 strands of yarn for the cable stitches. When I tried a test cable in white thread, the cable showed up. Am I the only one who doesn’t know to avoid dark colors for cable sweaters? Any suggestions?
Dark colors and multi colors are not usually good for details like cables. Sorry about that. Now you know.
I’m not sure there is anything you can do at this point, but start over with lighter yarn and re-purpose the dark yarn. I don’t think using two strands will do much. It’s mostly the color that is the issue.
I’ve found out the hard way that fancy yarn is for plain stitches. And plain yarn is for fancy stitches. Which translates into save your multicolored/dark yarn for simple patterns and use your solid colored/ light yarns for more complicated patterns.
