Moving pattern outwards from center

Hello everyone! I have run into a problem working on a Cricket Sweater in Basket Pattern from a Vogue vintage pattern. The instructions state: “[COLOR=“Blue”]Cont. in patt., moving patt. outwards from centre marker by 3 sts. on next and every foll. 6th row[/COLOR]” I have no idea what I do to move the pattern outwards from centre. What stitch?

Not sure what the pattern is but, if for example, the pattern was worked over center six sts, you could begin and end it 3 sts sooner and later…(black marker in middle)

Or is it like a ‘V’ with bg color in the middle?

That’s what it sounds like to me too. Begin and end the pattern three extra stitches on those 6th rows forming a V

All one color. They are chevrons spreading out from the center. The pattern is K6, P6 at center it changes to P6, K6
