Mother Bear Project

Is anybody here knitting for the Mother Bear Project charity? This is the website: http://www.motherbearproject.org I have ordered my pattern and am patiently waiting to receive it. Is the pattern difficult? Also, if you have made a bear for this charity, what type and brand of yarn did you use? Just wondering

Since they say in their FAQ’s that they want the bear’s to be made out of cotton, Four-ply acrylic, or washable wool do you think Sugar 'n Cream yarn would be acceptable? 'Cause it’s 100% cotton… Is anybody helping this charity?

Anybody? Oh well, I guess I’m on my own then :teehee:

You’re not alone. You have to remember that today is Mother’s Day and sometimes a few hours isn’t enough time for people to respond.

Any yarn is fine just so it’s washable. I used random scrap acrylic for mine.

There was a Mother Bear Knit-a-long for this awhile back. See if your questions can be answered here as well.

Does this help?

There might be more on the forum – just do a search to find the links.

Thanks! Ya, Mother’s Day does make a big difference in people online  anyways, thanks! I was trying to find something related to the Mother Bear Project on this forum but was couldnt find just what i was looking for… Thanks!!!

I have done one bear for them so far and plan on doing another.

I used a wool acrylic for the trousers and scrylic for the sweater and ‘fur’. The ‘fur’ yarn was a great novelty yarn which had little twists of yarn comming off a main thread so when it knitted up it looked just like teddy bear fur.

Its such a lovely project. i plan on doing another one once i have finished these socks.

Thanks! :muah: At least now I have a lot of suggestions

The pattern is on the DIY website from when they had a knitty gritty episode about charity knitting…

THis pattern is super easy. I used Caron simply soft acrylic. Somewhere on this board someone modified the pattern to add a skirt and hair or something else. Oh yeah, someone figured out how to knit it in the round.

Oops!!! I bought the pattern when I could have just used the free pattern!!! Oh well, I lost $5 but thats ok I guess… even though thats all i get for an allowance each week. :pout: I guess it will go towards a good cause though.
