Hey all,

cute lil guy, but have run into a problem understanding the directions.
These:

I really don’t ge the “4 times in all”, and trying to think of the combination to equal 34…The rest of the pattern isn’t badly worded at all, I wonder why this part is.

I am not at all an expert so I may be really off base. But it seems to me that you would be doing the increase over 20 rows, so since you are increasing 4 times in all it would be every 5 rows, but it sounds like from the direction it’s saying every 6 to me. I don’t know if the 34th row or the 6th row is the part that’s wrong. :?? I really don’t know.

Sorry I was much help.

Okay, so you’ve worked your 8 rows stockinette. We’ll call that rows 1-8. Your next row we’ll call row 9. This is the first row that you will increase one stitch at the beginning AND end of. After that, you will increase one stitch at the beginning and end of every 6th row and you will do a total of 4 increase rows. So it will look something like this:

Row 9: increase one stitch at beginning and end of row.
Rows 10-14: stockinette stitch with no increases
Row 15: increase one stitch at beginning and end of row.
Rows 16-20: stockinette stitch with no increases
Row 21: increase one stitch at beginning and end of row.
Rows 22-26: stockinette stitch with no increases
Row 27: increase one stitch at beginning and end of row.

The rows that I have bolded are your 4 increase rows. After that is complete, you will move on with the next instruction and you should have 13 stitches at this point.

You work 8 rows in stockinette on the 5 stitches. Increase at each end of the row on row 9, and that gives you 7 stitches. Increases on rows 15, 21, 27 would give you 6 more stitches to equal 13 stitches. Then it says to work 6 more rows even, which brings you up to row 33. Next row is 34.

The pattern’s fine…

Increase on the next row (that’s the 9th one), then every 6th row after that 4 times. That’s a total of 25 rows, added to the first 8 - the next row is 34.
