More Help on my First Sweater

Hi all!

Actually it’s a tank top. Anyway, I posted a while ago on my first problem with this tank top and got help right away. I haven’t really progressed much on it (mostly because I had to rip it out and start over – gauge was off and it looked more like a top for a 10 year-old than an adult).

Anyway, I’m making the Little Black Top in the first Stitch n Bitch Book. I’m on the back neck opening and got a bit confused. The instructions read:

“Work 27 or 19 (as for shoulders) rows even across the first 35 sts…”

So is it 27 or 19? Does it depend on the size of the garment I’m knitting? And, what does “as for shoulders” mean?

I’m finding most of the instructions okay. But for a book that is for very beginning knitters, they seem to slip things in with no explanation.

Any help would be much appreaciated!

Thanks,
Nadine

Yes, when given 2 numbers like this, it usually means for the different sizes. Work those sts ‘as you did for the shoulders’ - in whatever pattern you did the shoulder sts in.

Thanks!

Somehow the easiest instructions trip me up!
