Hello everyone!
I did a search and read a little bit but I think I’m in denial about what needs to be done.
I started my second Hogwarts scarf (because I’m a glutton for punishment) and I started it with Lamb’s Pride worsted yarn which is 85% wool and 15% mohair. And as I was knitting I was thinking how lovely and fluffy the mohair made the fabric look as I knitted it up. And then I thought to myself… “All that fuzz is probably going to make the scarf really freakin’ itchy.”
It is, isn’t it?
I’ve only almost finished the first stripe so I won’t feel too bad about frogging it, but my skin’s pretty sensitive to anything that will make it itch (like lovely fuzzy mohair). I guess I’m just looking for support for my first big trip to the frog pond.
I made my first scarf out of Lamb’s Pride worsted weight and I still wear it. I absolutely love it. It’s warm and I think quite soft. Are you very sensitive to itchiness? I think I’m moderately sensitive, but not overly so. Personally, I wouldn’t frog it.
I do think that Lamb’s Pride is itchy. However, I don’t think all mohair is itchy. I have no problem with Rowan Kidsilk (rare kid mohair and silk).

Wow you guys are quick! :cheering:
Knitgal: My skin is fairly sensitive to itchiness (I keep the Eucerin and Benadryl cream handy). I guess I could do what you’re supposed to do when you suspect something might irritate your skin and wear a small bit against my skin for a while and see what happens before I rip it all out. But that would make sense, and the things I do rarely make sense!
When I read the title to this thread I winced. The thought of frogging mohair makes my skin itch!:hair:
As a mom with two very skin sensitive daughters I would encourage you to do the test or prepare to be really disappointed. :verysad:
Is there someone you REALLY love to whom you can give the scarf?
Or perhaps there is someone you really DON’T love who also has sensitive skin to whom you can give the scarf?

:roflhard:
I think I’m going to go ahead a knit it because I lurve it so, and hope that I can wear it. If I can’t at least I won’t be shocked, and I have a few HP loving friends who will most likely be happy to get it.
Thank you all for your help!
