I have posted this over on the knitty coffeeshop but go no responses all weekend so I thought I would try here…
I am knitting tempting from knitty. I am doing it in the XL size. http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter04/PATTtempting.html
I have joined my sleeves and knit apx an inch of the yoke. I would like to make it so that I dont need a ribbon. I have read that some just changed needle size a time or two as they went up and some have done k2tog or p2tog. I totally get changing needle sizes but I am still wary of doing the decreases. Has anyone modified with decreases and if so please tell me how step by step? If I were to do the needle changing (which I think I really prefer) would I go down a size like every inch? Thank you in advance.
Lessee… You could do some p2 tog decreases and it probably wouldn’t show. Some of your ribs would be k2, p1, but if you spread them out, that might not look too odd.
Also, some people posted here - http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=19083.0 - that the pattern ran kind of large, so they made a smaller size. You might read through that thread for other tips and modifications for the pattern.
I t hasn’t been difficult at all. It is just a bit monotonous with all the ribbing. I decreased several stitches and went down a needle size …so far so good.
