Hi there,
I’ve joined the site as I’m a bit stuck with this Rowan Pattern and wondered if anyone has made it? I’m making size S which is 108 chains to start on size 4mm needles and should measure 45cm. Despite going down to 3mm needles it is still coming out way too big. Over 60cm. Is the pattern wrong? I’m not sure what to do now. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I’m new to crochet and successfully completed another pattern in the book but noticed there were some errors in the pattern.

Welcome to the forum!
What yarn are you using? How many sts per inch are you getting on 3mm needles?
It’s written according to British crochet terms and errata are listed on the Ravelry page although the link has gone.
Perhaps @OffJumpsJack @ColoCro @ZKOhio @GrumpyGramma can help.
Thanks! I’m using recommended yarn and getting fewer stitches (17 instead of 24) for 10cm square. I have just found out that the width measurement in their diagram is the width under the arms and not the hem width. Tad confusing and it’s still
coming out too big. Guess I go smaller needles again?
The only gauge I can find seems to be the knitting gauge for the yarn, not the crochet gauge for the pattern. Does it give a separate gauge in the pattern? You mention 24 stitches, but what I see says 21 and shows knitting needles. It would be unusual for crochet gauge to be smaller than knit gauge.
Regardless, you’ll need to use whatever size hook gives you the gauge specified in the pattern. I usually have to go down 2 hook sizes. If you really can’t make gauge, you could try working the smaller pattern.
Thank-you. It’s useful to know that it’s common to have to go down needle size so much. I’ll persevere! Looks like a nice pattern and the Slipover in the same collection came out really nice.

What size hook did you use for the slipover? Maybe the same one would work for this project.
Unfortunately the photo upload didn’t work
1970s tops like this were joined in the back at the hem. Making twice the under arm measure 17.75 (front) plus 17. 75 (back)
Read ahead. What are the instructions for the next row or two?
Back seam? Great idea to check but it’s definitely side seems. I’m starting again on 2.5mm needles but may try 3mm and smaller size. You learn the most when things are not going to plan!
