Mixing crochet and knitting

Hi everyone,
Is it possible or advisable to add a crochet button band to a knitted cardigan. Has anyone ever done this, and how did it turn out?.

There’s no reason not to. I’ve done it on two cardigans, one with crocheted ribbon. It can be a beautiful look.

Thank you.
I am just a bit wary in case it puckers or doesn’t fit properly. I will try it though.

You do have to fiddle a bit to figure out where to put the hook into the knit fabric so the border doesn’t wave or pucker. It’s worth a try to see how frequently you need to do this however. Let us know how it’s going please.

I’ve seen lots of patterns which mix knitting and crochet. Some the button band and neck and hem edging, others have crochet panels or shapes held within the knitted fabric, some with crocheted motifs added on top of the knitted fabric.
It’s a very nice look.

Thank you.
Sounds like there are endless possibilities. i will experiment.

If you have a gauge/tension swatch, you can do some testing there.

I am sure it will look very nice. Do post a photo if you are able!
