Mirroring Cables

I am doing a 6/8 cable on a baby sweater. The pattern doesn’t have a cable, I’m adding it.

I want to mirror the cables but I don’t know how to do that.

Should I hold the stitches in front at the beginning of the row and to the back at the end of the row? Or should I hold the stitches to the front at both the beginning and end of a row?

I’m doing seven rows in the pattern. Then the eighth row I do the cable either holding three stitches in front or in back.

I’m on the first cable row. I held three stitches to the front. Now I’m at the end of the row and at the next cable. To mirror the cable should I hold three stitches to the front like I did at the beginning of the row. Or should I hold three stitches to the back?

I hope I’m making sense. Does anyone know what I should do?

If you want a mirror image, hold the sts to the back at the end of the row.
Holding sts to the front makes the cable cross left, holding to the back makes the cable cross right.
